Annie's Trail Mix (Vegan, Soy-Free, Wheat-Free) PDF Print E-mail

This recipe is altered from the Annie's Homegrown newsletter:

"This tasty, hearty mix provides a burst of fuel that will power kids through homework, sports practice, or other after-school activities.  Make this recipe together on the weekend, and have a delicious treat all week long!

It is also great for your next big hike… or on the trail home from school.Enough for 8 or more individual snack bags."

3 cups Honey Bunnies or Bunny Love cereal (the organic and wheat-free version of O's type cereal, do not use the honey version for vegan)
1 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup chocolate covered raisins
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (try Enjoy Life brand for dairy-free and soy-free)
½ cup coconut flakes (preferably unsweetened)
½ cup banana chips
½-1 cup dried apple slices, coarsely chopped
1 cup walnuts or almonds or hazelnuts (or combination of all 3)

Combine all ingredients and mix well. You may substitute other dried fruits (mangoes, papaya, apricots) for apples, or combine them all together and mix it up!
