Sarena is a graduate of The School of Culinary Arts in Atlanta, and she has worked in various fields in the culinary industry since 1995. Sarena discovered that she was lactose "challanged" in 2005, and soon after began creating recipes for her dairy-free (and now gluten-free) blog, The Non-Dairy Queen.

In 2022, the classic line of Daiya Shreds was officially retired. The company is now focusing all of their cheesy energies on the Daiya Cutting Board Shreds. Not to be confused with the newer Daiya Cutting Board Shreds, the classic line of Daiya Shreds has been around for many, many years. It’s been reformulated on several occasions, but still comes in two traditional flavors that can be found in many grocers. Dairy-free cheese is a very particular thing. Updated! This is another fabulous recipe from my friend Sarena of The Non-Dairy Queen. She shared these Boston cream pie waffles with us six years ago, but the recipe was buried in our news. I am completely fascinated with the pale yellow color and the velvety texture that develops…

I’ve missed the regular posting that she used to do, but I have a feeling that we’ll be hearing more from her soon. In the mean time, I wanted to give this old post a refresh and add it to our recipe section! Sarena says: My goal with baking is to make things simple in technique, but taste like it was hard to make. I made this cinnamon bun bread a while ago, basing it on a recipe I…

I don’t miss cheese. Truthfully, I was never a cheese lover before I discovered my lactose intolerance. I know, it’s shocking! But I still love to try out dairy-free cheese alternatives. Especially on pizza, lasagna, and dishes like this plant-based cheesy squash casserole. It’s delicious atop grains or pasta – melting in almost like a sauce. I tested this recipe with Daiya shreds. I was kind of eh about these shreds in a panini. I liked it, but I wasn’t blown away by it. But on this squash casserole I LOVED it!  It is extremely creamy and melts in really…

Trust me, one bite of these Kinnikinnick gluten-free crumbs and there was…

There really aren’t any other products on the market like Nasoya Silken Creations. We’ll try to remake the recipes below without it, but in the mean time, you might like these other dairy-free tofu desserts: Silken Chocolate Mousse Pie Vegan Chai Tiramisu Bethenny’s Vegan Gluten-Free Chocolate Cupcakes Lemon Tofu Cheesecake Tofu Chocolate Mousse I really don’t even know where to begin with this. Ever since I received Nasoya Vanilla Silken Creations I have been running ideas through my head for what to do with it. Essentially, it is pudding. So, there are the usual trifles and pies.
