Fare Well Diner, an all vegan restaurant from the makers of Sticky Fingers Bakery, said hello to the DC scene in mid-2016. The cuisine is modeled after casual New York eateries, with a range of comfort food dishes. The menu includes everything from standard mains like Burgers and Pierogis to modernized small plates like Buffalo Cauliflower Dip and Polenta Fries.

Though the 46-seat establishment is somewhat intimate, Fare Well Diner serves breakfast (all day), lunch and dinner (with a “Happiest Happy Hour” from 4 to 7 pm). It also houses a full cocktail bar, bakery, and coffee counter.

The menus focus on house-made items with from-scratch nut-based cheeses, pastas, and an array of baked goods. When grabbing your morning coffee you can get a number of treats to go, including fresh pastries, croissants, and various breads.

And since two of the Farewell Diner founders are two-time champions of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, dessert is readily available. Daily offerings include shortcake, brownie sundaes, and seasonal crisp a la mode. They even sell whole cakes, like Cookie Dough Cake and the Ginger Lemon Cake, shown here.
