MI, Multiple Cities – Olga’s Kitchen

Thanks to GDF viewer Dan, for sending in this dining recommendation:

"My wife has a very strong intolerance to dairy and we eat dairy-free.  It is very difficult to find restaurants when traveling and we tend to bring food to ensure her health.  We have discovered that Olga's Kitchen has dairy-free options.  Particularly their flat bread sandwiches."

There seem to be numberous Olga's Kitchens in Michigan (which is why we listed it in that state. Outside of Michigan, there are 2 Olga's Kitchens in Illinois and 1 in Ohio.

I couldn't find any specific information on their website regarding special dietary needs, but it sounds as if they are very helpful. You can view the menu, locations, hours, and contact information on their website: www.olgaskitchen.com

  1. As a Michigander, I LOVE Olga’s. I lived out of state for 6 years and found a recipe for the bread online. It was good, but not quite the same but it has a lot of milk in it. So when we discovered my youngest has a severe dairy allergy, I hadn’t taken her back. Today I was in there with one of my non-allergic children and noticed that there’s a caption under the “Olga’s” listed that the bread is VEGAN! That means it’s got to be dairy-free!

For those not familiar with Olga’s, they make sandwiches out of what looks like pita bread but it’s their own recipe. It’s kinda sweet and very tasty. Their Olgasauce is DEFINITELY not dairy-free but I’m sure they can make you one with non-dairy ingredients.. not sure if they’re good about cross contamination precautions. I’ll let ya know!
