| Kettle Brand Potato Chips - Spicy Thai™ (Gluten-Free, Soy-Free) |
|
We were perusing the aisles at our local natural food grocer when my husband spotted the Kettle brand chips on sale. Though he attempted to suppress his snack food urge, the potato chips seemed to be calling his name. Unfortunately, as he read through the ingredient statements, milk seemed to be appearing in one form or another. That is until he spotted the Spicy Thai™. It seems this is one of Kettle Foods newest chip flavors, a winner of their recent People's Choice content. Since they were on buy one get one free, and this appeared to be the only dairy-ingredient-free flavor on the shelves, he had no trouble in convincing me that two bags of Spicy Thai™ chips must be tossed into our cart. As a member of the regular Kettle brand line, these displayed themselves as thin, slightly greasy chips. Of course, this is something I would expect of an indulgent snack food that is fried rather than baked. Since my husband kindly refers to the baked chips as cardboard, the fried versions have been making more appearances in our home. The label declares "ginger with attitude" but my professed ginger hating husband absolutely loved them. Admitedly, I have been able to sneak ginger into his meals so long as it was not in large chunks, or the predominant flavor. As I bit into my first chip, I was pleased with the lite taste and the audible crunch. The flavor was a little bit of sweet and a lot of heat. ![]() I enjoyed them, but couldn't devour too many due to the truly spicy flavor. My husband on the other hand, ate an entire 5 ounce bag in one day! My Extra Notes & Tips:
