Homemade Oat Milk I (Vegan, Nut-Free, Soy-Free, Wheat-Free)

Recipe Ease: This one is pretty darn simple

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Oats, rolled (raw)
  • 5 cups Water
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a saucepan, bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 1 hour. Strain, and store in the refrigerator.

Turns out a slimy milk, okay for cooking or baking. May improve with tweaking, though. Either reduce cooking time and/or straining methods. :?

This version is particular, as I think the texture isn't quite as nice. It won't look like oatmeal once you strain it though. For a nicer consistency, soak the oats and then strain, but do not cook.

rice milk is blended and strained through cheese cloth. this will make the oat milk less...chunky

Grind the oats to a fine consistency first.
