Summary:

The best deli meats and salame we have sampled, natural or not. The taste, the texture, and the standards (humanely raised, antibiotic-free, nitrate-free) guarantee that we will be shopping for this brand.

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about the new Columbus Farm to Fork Naturals product line. My husband, Tony, loves meat, but I don’t always love cooking it. A little convenience is nice, but many prepared meats contain nitrates and aren’t from the most ideal sources. We’ve tried a few nitrate-free and antibiotic-free brands, but they were all “too gummy” in texture, and to our surpise, the natural varieties actually tasted “too processed,” until now …

Columbus Farm to Fork Naturals

Columbus Farm to Fork Naturals were met with high praise by Tony, and I had to agree that they passed all of our tests, from taste and texture to how they are produced. Columbus’ new varieties are made with meats humanely raised on family farms, using antibiotic-free ingredients (they are also hormone-free, but that is law for these types of meats), and have no added nitrites or nitrates.

Thus far, Columbus Farm to Fork Naturals includes the following varieties (I highlighted the ones that we sampled):

  • Oven Roasted Turkey Breast
  • Honey Roasted Turkey Breast
  • Smoked Turkey Breast
  • Uncured Fennel Salame
  • Uncured Genoa Salame
  • Uncured Italian Dry Salame
  • Uncured Sopressata Salame

As an added bonus, all of the above are gluten-free, and contain no MSG or fillers. Plus, as mentioned before, they taste AMAZING! Did I type that big enough?

The deli meat is akin to slices of fresh roasted turkey (no pressed turkey loaves here!) while the salame is incredibly rich and downright snackable. It is also delicious on homemade gluten-free, dairy-free pizza, no cheese required.

Columbus Farm to Fork Naturals will be available in Whole Foods (nationwide), Sprouts (in the West), and it appears to be on track for getting into many mainstream grocers, too. They are also priced competitively, which I’m very excited about!

Dietary Notes: By ingredients, these meats are Dairy-Free, Egg-Free, Gluten-Free, Nut-Free, Peanut-Free, and Soy-Free. Note that the salame does contain lactic acid starter culture, but I was told that it is from a non-dairy source. Nonetheless, read the ingredient statement and check with the company on their manufacturing processes for all varieties if potential allergen cross-contamination is an issue for you. Processes and labeling are subject to change at any time for any company / product.
