Welcome to the New and Improved Go Dairy Free!

It’s finally here! I know that many of you have tirelessly awaited the update of Go Dairy Free. You lamented over the inability to comment and felt a bit lost among the 5000+ pages. I’m happy to announce that the new Go Dairy Free addresses every request we have ever received. The website has dramatically improved functionality, navigation, and commenting! Here are just a few of the new features for you to enjoy:

New Features on Go Dairy Free

Ziplist & New Recipe Formatting – We’ve partnered with ZipList for better formatting and some really cool functions. Not only will you be able to print just the recipes with ease, but you can also save the recipe and create shopping lists via Ziplist. They even offer a free app to access your recipe box and shopping list with the click of a button. I’m already addicted. See a sample of the new recipe format here: Vegan Cheesecake Ice Cream.

Commenting – Questions, feedback, just want to interact with other dairy-free foodies? Comments have been re-opened on many of our major sections, including the recipes, product reviews, news, and restaurant recommendations. Alas, older comments from the old website were lost in the transition, but that means a clean slate for discussions.

Easier Navigation – We now have easy drop-down menus to take you to more dairy-free content than you ever could have imagined! Check out the menus above – there’s hours of entertainment in there! I bet you didn’t even know that all of this information was on the old site. New content is added every week, so be sure to subsribe via email for updates.

Special Sections – You will now see special segments on the website to meet the various needs of our dairy-free viewers. This includes a Home Page for all Vegan posts, a Home Page for all Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free posts, Recipes by Diet or Type (coming soon!), and more!

hReview – Our product reviews are getting a snazzy “at a glance” review box. You can quickly see a short summary of the product and our rating. Feel free to comment on the reviews with your own opinions, too!

Dairy-Free & Fit - We will be blogging all things healthy on a new blog segment on the site called Dairy-Free & Fit. Join the conversations!

This is the “soft launch” of our new website. Go Dairy Free is up and fully functional, but please pardon our dust as we update all 5000+ posts one by one! We’ll be going in full force with giveaways and all very shortly! To get the latest, sign up for our email updates.

The New & Improved Go Dairy Free

Behind the New Go Dairy Free Website

We couldn’t be happier with the new look and improved functionality. If you like the site and want to know how it was created:

Theme designSaraubh Sharma – He is without a doubt one of the best theme designers I have come across. He offered excellent support as we took his already wonderful theme and manipulated it every which way.

Logo design / ColorsAlexa Croft - The lovely lady behind Lexie’s Kitchen is ever so patient and great at translating what you want into something visual.

Technical Big Guns - Anthony Fleming - He transferred the entire website from Joomla to WordPress. Trust me, this was no easy feat. He’s also the head technical honcho around here, fixing anything that breaks.

Tireless IntegrationAlisa Fleming – I have to give myself props for re-learning some HTML code from back in my tech days and diving in with both feet. All of the customization, added functionality, and visual integration on the website was done by me.

I’m continuing to work on Go Dairy Free, and have a habit of tinkering with code. So if the site goes down at all while under construction, just hit refresh. I’ll have it right back online!

Aw shucks, thanks so much Katie! I’m nowhere near done though. There’s a lot of dust about, but I’m really happy with how it is coming together.

The new website looks great! Much more use-friendly and inviting. Obviously, I’m drawn to the recipe section–always looking for new ways to go dairy free! Additionally, the “information overload” section is an easy way to navigate through common questions that arise with this life style. I love the switch and can’t wait to explore more!
