Autism Numbers Exceed Childhood Cancer

It wasn't long ago that this rarely mentioned disorder afflicted 1 in every 10,000 Americans.  Today, this number has jumped 60 fold, as 1 in every 166 children is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.  In fact, more children suffer from autism than childhood cancer.  Why the dramatic increase?  Some feel it is genetic, others see it as an environmental result from vaccinations, while a few think it is simply a reflection of the rapid growth in detection and diagnosis.  Regardless of the reason, autism is becoming a problem that can no longer be ignored.  The recently published article, "Autism: A Hidden Epidemic", shares interesting stories and information that help to bring the disorder into prospective.
