Broughton Foods Issues Recall for Several Juice and Drink Brands for Undeclared Milk

February 19, 2009 – Broughton Foods of Marietta, Ohio, is recalling several brands of drinks because some of the products may contain undeclared milk protein. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk protein may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products. No illnesses have been reported. The recall includes 280,235 units of pints of Broughton Orange Juice; 5,544 units of pints of Broughton Citrus Punch; 9,895 units of pints of Broughton Fruit Punch; and 146,202 units of pints of Broughton Brewed Iced Tea With Sugar Added.

The affected products were distributed to retail outlets in southeastern Ohio, West Virginia, eastern Kentucky and Virginia. All affected products are past their expiration dates and therefore should no longer be available for sale in the marketplace.

The recall includes: 

  • Pints of Broughton Orange Juice dated Jan. 14, 2009, or earlier with a UPC of 70880 02070
  • Pints of Broughton Brewed Iced Tea With Sugar Added dated Dec. 20, 2008, or earlier with a UPC code of 70880 02063
  • Pints of Broughton Citrus Punch dated Sept. 17, 2008, or earlier with a UPC of 70880 02130
  • Pints of Broughton Fruit Punch dated Sept. 16, 2008, or earlier with a UPC of 70880 02234
