At the end of 2010, Attune Foods acheived gluten-free certification for all of their Erewhon gluten-free cereals and attune chocolate probiotic bars. Attune’s products are certified by the Gluten Intolerance Group which mandates periodic gluten testing using approved testing methods, to meet the minimum GFCO standard of less than 10 ppm gluten in a finished product.
Erewhon gluten free cereals are made in a facility that is peanut-free, tree nut-free, dairy-free and egg-free. While the cereals are run on a shared line with gluten, several precautions are taken to help prevent cross-contamination. After a product is run that contains gluten in it and in between production runs, the machinery is sanitized and washed down. Next a product is run that is gluten free but not certified gluten free. The machinery is then washed down again before the certified gluten free product is run. After Erewhon certified gluten free cereals are made, they are tested to ensure they are at gluten free thresholds. Late last year Attune foods sent the cereals out to a separate facility to test their actual levels and found them to be less than 5 ppm.
“Erewhon’s legacy of simple ingredients, simply made is something we are proud to continue in our gluten free cereals which are now certified gluten free,” says Rob Hurlbut, CEO of attune foods. “This family favorite is great to enjoy at breakfast or to use when cooking.”
Available certified gluten free Erewhon cereals include Crispy Brown Rice- Gluten Free, Crispy Brown Rice with Mixed Berries, Cocoa Crispy Brown Rice, Rice Twice, Corn Flakes, and Strawberry Crisp.
Attune chocolate probiotic bars are a delicious way to get probiotics. For people who don’t like yogurt or who are on-the-go, this tasty chocolate bar packs 6.1 billion probiotic CFUs of three of the most clinically tested strains. Probiotics are good for helping restore the bacterial flora of good bacteria in your gut which helps promote digestive health.
“We are so thrilled our bars are certified gluten free, as probiotics can be helpful for people with celiac disease and gluten intolerance,” says Hurlbut. “This gives our gluten free friends a great tasting alternative to yogurt that actually has less sugar than most yogurts.”
Certified gluten free in late 2010, the bars are made on a shared line with gluten. To help prevent cross-contamination, a strict changeover procedure is in place. The bars are then tested to ensure they meet gluten free thresholds.
attune chocolate probiotic bars come in dairy free Dark Chocolate [made on shared lines], Milk Chocolate Crisp, Almond Milk Chocolate and Mint Chocolate.
