Updated for 2023! Recently, I shared the 10 Best Dairy-Free Ice Cream Pints. But I don’t want to leave sorbets out of the mix. Sorbet tends to be naturally dairy-free, and is often written off as a “boring” option. But these brands craft dairy-free sorbet that goes above and beyond for pure flavor, creaminess, or all-around sweet satisfaction. Plus, our list includes great options for vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-friendly cravings, too.
The Best Dairy-Free Sorbet Pints Sold at Grocers
Sadly, sorbet has fallen out of favor in recent years. Brands like Whole Fruit, Julie’s Organic, Ciao Bella, and Charlie’s have melted away from the market. But there are still some delicious options available. The secret is to know where to look. Natural food stores might have a brand, maybe two. But mainstream grocers tend to carry a name brand plus a full house line. If you’re craving sorbet, don’t shy away from your local mega grocer! Here’s a list of the most beloved brands currently available.
Talenti Dairy-Free Sorbetto
Talenti makes a popular dairy-based line of gelato, but their sorbettos have an equally loyal following. They’re stamped with “dairy-free” right in the name and come in alluring creamy and fruity flavors.
- Flavors: Roman Raspberry, Alphonso Mango, Cold Brew, Dark Chocolate (the Layers varieties are now in their dairy-free “ice cream” line.
- Key Dietary Notes*: All of their sorbettos are dairy-free, gluten-free, and soy-free. But a couple of their creamy varieties contain eggs, and they sometimes have a flavor that contains peanut/tree nuts.
- Availability: United States and Australia
Jeni’s Sorbet
Jeni’s is a popular scoop shop with a good smattering of locations across the U.S. They’ve introduced creamy dairy-free flavors at their stores, but their naturally dairy-free sorbet is pretty impressive, too. It typically features complex fruit flavors and a little vino for depth. And unlike their dairy-free ice cream flavors, the sorbet is available by the pint direct from Jeni’s and in natural food stores.
- Flavor: Frosé
- Key Dietary Notes*: All sorbet flavors are vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, and nut-free by ingredients. But they do contain a little alcohol, which may or may not be cooked off. Check with the company if concerned.
- Availability: United States
Sambazon Sorbet
They only have one sorbet flavor, but they’re experts in it. Sambazon specializes in acai everything, and their organic acai sorbet is sweet, pure pleasure. It can be difficult to find, and a little pricey, but justifiable for that intense acai infusion.
- Flavor: Acai Berry
- Key Dietary Notes*: It’s vegan, gluten-free, and made without top allergens. It’s also certified organic and fair trade.
- Availability: United States
Haagen Dazs
We were so sad when Haagen Dazs discontinued their dairy-free ice cream line. And their sorbets are slowly slipping away. But they still have two classic dairy-free sorbet flavors that are pretty darn good. It’s refreshing and very fruit forward. They used to have a creamy coconut variety, but now they seem to be pure fruit focused.
- Flavors: Mango and Raspberry
- Key Dietary Notes*: By ingredients, all of their sorbet flavors appear to be vegan, gluten-free, and made without top allergens.
- Availability: United States and United Kingdom (they might be available in some additional countries)
Open Nature Sorbet
This house brand is exclusive to the Albertsons family of stores, but that is no small family. It includes Safeway, Vons, Shaw’s, Jewel Osco, and many more grocers. Their line is extensive and known for being both refreshing and intense with fruit flavor.
- Flavors: Lemon, Passion Fruit, Blueberry Acai, Peach, Strawberry, Mango, and Raspberry
- Key Dietary Notes*: By ingredients, all of their sorbet flavors appear to be vegan, gluten-free, and made without top allergens.
- Availability: United States
Private Selection Sorbet
Though we’re partial to Open Nature, Kroger does a very admiral job with their house brand. This line is carried at their family of stores, which includes Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Ralphs, Smiths, and many more.
- Flavors: Lemon, Black Cherry, Strawberry, Mango, Mango Passion Fruit, and Raspberry
- Key Dietary Notes*: By ingredients, all of their sorbet flavors appear to be vegan, gluten-free, and made without top allergens.
- Availability: United States
Bonus Canada Only!
Since most of the above sorbet brands are U.S. only, I put out a request for favorite Canadian brands. Thank you to Angela B., Michelle J., Ursula J., and Isabelle A. for telling me their top picks.
Chapman’s Sorbet
Chapman’s is a Canadian dairy products company (they make all types of ice creams and yogurts). However, they also produce a line of dairy-free sorbets that several of the above ladies recommended. Unlike other brands, they don’t score big points with their chocolate sorbet. But the fruit flavors have received “sweet” marks.
- Champion Flavors: Rainbow, Tropical Wave, and Triple Berry
- Key Dietary Notes*: By ingredients, all of their sorbet flavors appear to be vegan, gluten-free, and made without top allergens. But they do appear to use more additives than your average brand.
- Availability: Canada
Solo Fruit
This Quebec company believes in natural sorbets. Their fruit flavors have no added sugars and each tub contains a dense quantity of fruit! Their dark chocolate sorbet is sweetened, but it’s still 70% cacao.
- Champion Flavors: Dark Chocolate, Pear, and Raspberry
- Key Dietary Notes*: These are more wholesome than your average brand, and they specifically note that they are vegan, nut and peanut free, egg free and gluten free.
- Availability: Canada
*All of the above were dairy-free and vegan by ingredients at last check. But always check the label. Ingredients and processes are subject to change at any time. Also potential cross-contamination with dairy or other allergens is always a concern in product manufacturing. If you are dealing with a severe or sensitive food allergy, always contact the manufacturer to ensure their processes are safe for your needs prior to consumption.

Why don’t they also say dairy free on Chapmans? It does seem there is no dairy on the ingredient list.
When it comes to products, “dairy free” is just a marketing term. It isn’t regulated or recommended in any way. It’s up to the company on if they want to use a label like “dairy free,” “non-dairy,” or other dietary descriptors.
From what I can tell on their website, SOLO Fruit is available on in Quebec and Ontario. Chapmans is great tho’ and readily available in western Canada. I just wish it came in a smaller container as if I buy one, I eat all of it!!!
You need to try Glidini! Passionfruit, Coffee and Cocao are my faourites!
I enjoy Mango Madness from Chapmans here in Canada.
Thanks for sharing this Tina!
Sadly, I haven’t run across any of these other than Sambazon. I may have to request a few of these at our local natural grocery store, starting with Jeni’s.
Well I’m impressed that you can get Sambazon locally! I find that one harder to locate.
I love Haagen Daz Mango. Hands down one of my favourite things to buy. I like to do one scoop mango and one scoop vanilla ice cream. Otherwise I haven’t seen many of those brands. Will have to keep my eyes peeled next time I’m in the US.
Like a creamsicle!
I’m heading to the store later to see if they carry any of these sorbets. I got so caught up with the dairy free ice creams, that I completely forgot how much I love sorbets. I see several flavors I would like to try.
I’m the same way! It’s easy to forget about the wonders of sorbet.
I WILL be on the lookout for these! Thanks for the recommendations!
Three cheers for another underdog… It’s such a shame that sorbet doesn’t get more love! It seems like it’s non-dairy or bust these days. There are so many brilliant fruit-based frozen treats that are far superior, thanks to their natural sugar content (goodbye ice crystals and hello smooth texture) and much bolder flavor, since there’s no filler! I’ll have to investigate these brands. Lots of new ones to me.
Agreed! Though I must admit to shunning sorbet at times. I’m opening my mind (and palate) up now after trying some of these! Glad I could shine a light on some new options for you.
We like Talenti a lot, but I’m intrigued to try Jeni’s now. I’ll have to look for it!
So good to know! Thanks Jereann!
