There is only one dessert that I love more than dairy-free ice cream, and that’s cookies. The two together? Sheer bliss. I can always count on So Delicious Dairy Free to come out with a good quality product, and their vegan and gluten-free cookie dough and cookies ‘n cream ice cream pints are no exception.
Note that So Delicious offers non-gluten-free versions of these two flavors, which are both coconut milk-based and soy-free. In this post, we’re focusing on these gluten-free goodies…
So Delicious Dairy Free Gluten Free Cookie Dough Ice Cream
In all honesty, the ice cream portion was good … it had a smooth and creamy texture that was rich and luxurious on the tongue. But both Tony and I felt the coconut vibe wasn’t a 100% fit with the cookie dough. It didn’t detract from it one bit, but the two didn’t completely meld. If So Delicious were able to make the ice cream base taste a little more vanilla than coconut, then I would proclaim this vegan ice cream to be “perfect.”
Fortunately, the cookie dough portion was not only scrumptious, but also generous. HUGE gobs of gluten-free cookie dough were abundantly scattered throughout this So Delicious pint. Tony said he could have eaten a bowl of the cookie dough portion alone.
If you avoid soy-based foods, this may or may not be the gem you’ve been seeking. It is a *mostly* soy-free frozen dessert, however, it does contain that wee bit of soy lecithin and soy oil.
So Delicious Dairy Free Gluten Free Cookies ‘n Cream Ice Cream
Like the Cookie Dough, the ice cream base is quite luxurious. In fact, I would call it more rich than sweet. Though there was a slight coconut flare, the vanilla competed nicely and actually took control a bit, even dominating over the chocolate cookies.
As you can see in the picture below, So Delicious was once again generous with the add-ins. Oreo lookalikes (no gluten, high fructose corn syrup or hydrogenated oils here!) were present in every bite of the Cookies ‘n Cream flavor, though it was surprisingly a rather mellow frozen dessert overall.
The Gluten Free Cookies ‘n Cream is soy-free, and made without any top allergens, as an added bonus!
For my budget, the price on these So Delicious Gluten Free treats is a touch luxurious, but really, so is this ice cream. I think it is worth it for a treat, and I expect that I will be popping a pint of the Cookie Dough into my shopping cart very soon.
