Living dairy-free doesn’t automatically evoke concerns over bread. But many brands contain milk in some form, whether it be whey, casein, buttermilk, butter, lactose, etc. I quickly learned to bake my own bread, but take breaks when I spot Rudi’s Organic Bakery Breads on sale. Every organic, wheat-based loaf (all SEVENTEEN of them!) is dairy-free, egg-free, and made with simple, healthy ingredients. It’s the next best thing to homemade.
Rudi’s Organic Bakery Breads include 17 Varieties, All Dairy-Free!
I still enjoy baking my own bread, but when my niece came to live with us and was diagnosed with EoE, we leaned on Rudi’s Organic Bakery Breads once again. Wheat was one of the foods that she could eat and she loved it when we would splurge on a loaf of Rudi’s. The 100% Whole Wheat was our go to, but sometimes the Colorado Cracked Wheat.
Both have a lightly sweet, nutty, and earthy taste against a surprisingly soft and tender texture. Though hearty, these aren’t dense breads in the least bit. Since Rudi’s Organic Bakery shuns additives and chemical dough conditioners, the soft texture was surprising. We’ve also sampled the Double Fiber, which was quite good, but didn’t beat out our whole wheat favorites.
I’m not going to detail out ingredients and nutrition facts for every variety, but will include the details on one of our favorite loaves as a sample.

A go-to bread
I like to bake our own, but when on sale, there are two brands of bread I like to buy – Rudi’s Organic or Silver Hills. Rudi’s is more my husband’s style, wholesome, but still light and fluffy. Silver Hills is sprouted and heftier. I like both!
