Summary:

We've only sampled the Chocolate Mix thus far, but the results were far beyond expectations. Spoons and bowls were licked clean before we even got to piling the frosting on desserts. It has a creamy finish that isn't too "cocoa" or "fudgy" like so many dairy-free versions. One box also makes enough to generously frost a 2-layer cake.

Would someone please put this bowl of Cherrybrook Kitchen Frosting away before I eat the whole thing?!

Cherrybrook Kitchen Frosting (Review): Mixes & Ready-to-Spread - all dairy-free, nut-free, soy-free, gluten-free, vegan and junk-free!

Cherrybrook Kitchen Frosting may be made allergen-safe (in a dairy-, egg- and nut-free facility), but it’s also just a good quality line that’s made without hydrogenated oil, high fructose corn syrup and additives (which so many packaged frostings contain!).

The selection of Cherrybrook Kitchen Frosting includes Mixes that you whip up at home and jarred Ready-to-Spread topping, each in Chocolate and Vanilla.

Thus far, we’ve only sampled the Chocolate Frosting Mix. Truthfully, I much prefer vanilla to chocolate, but Cherrybrook’s cocoa-rich topper has me hooked. After preparation, the spoon, knife, and bowl I used were nearly spotless before they even made it to the dishwasher. Have I felt a touch guilty for my over-indulgence?  A bit. But, was it worth it? Without a doubt. Plus, I had a partner in crime – Tony couldn’t keep away either!

The boxed mix of Cherrybrook Frosting makes a whole pile of sweet stuff – easily enough to frost a two-layer cake without skimping. I used the Earth Balance Buttery Sticks with perfect results in both taste and texture. And unlike many dairy-free chocolate foods, this frosting didn’t have an overwhelming flavor of cocoa, sugar, or fudge. Rather, it was deliciously creamy, and seemed to go with just about anything. We trialed it on cake (of course), fresh strawberries, and (my personal favorite) smashed between Annie’s Honey Bunny Grahams.  A treat the little ones would surely enjoy as well.
