MacroTreats – Cherry Serendipity Cookie (Organic, Vegan)

If you like Fig Newton’s, then you will love the Cherry Serendipity Macro Treat.  The texture took our tasters by surprise.  We were anticipating a cookie, but the consistency and flavor is much more reminiscent of a fig bar, or a hybrid cookie if you will.  Their use of brown rice syrup, maple syrup, and organic dates, in place of plain white sugar, may be the reason behind our Newton vibe.  Once we got past the initial shock of the texture, we liked it.  The chocolate chips and dried cherries added a dessert-like taste.  Although not something I would crave every day, it would get me through the mid-day crash while filling the void for a sweet treat.  On the flip side, the high carbohydrate, low protein, and relatively low fat mix make it an excellent choice for a pre-workout charger.  I certainly won’t argue with having a jumbo cookie in the name of exercise!

  • Pros:  Vegan; Organic; Free from refined sugars or flours; Compliments the Macrobiotic Diet
  • Cons:  High in sugar; Texture is particular

Recommended For:

  • Fig / Fruit Newton Fans
  • Mid-day Snack
  • Pre-Work Out Charger
  • Macrobiotic Dieters

Overall MacroTreat Review:

Go Macro Treats are truly inspirational cookies, free of refined sugars and flours, dairy, eggs, hydrogenated oils, additives, and preservatives.  High quality is evident right down to the organic grains and sweeteners.  The creators of Macro Treats have strictly adhered to the increasingly popular Macrobiotic Diet (think Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow) to produce unrefined, whole and natural indulgences.  In fact, even the chocolate chips utilized in some of the Treats are grain sweetened.  These soft, jumbo-sized cookies are each very unique in their taste and texture, which is why we have broken the reviews down by flavor.
