Summary:

Making a solid entry into the competitive bar market, this on-the-go mini-meal offers substantial, sustainable energy. With a base of almond butter and dates, the flavor is pleasantly sweet yet satisfying. I loved the addition of sprouted flax, sprouted quinoa, and chocolate chips; fitness buffs will like that they add brown rice protein and trace minerals.

Hefty, fulfilling and pleasantly sweet are the first words that came to mind after I polished off my first eatCLEAN Vegan Whole Food Bar from Trace Minerals.

eatCLEAN Vegan Whole Food Bar Review (dairy-free, gluten-free, organic)

I’ve been a fan of Trace Minerals electrolyte drinks since I first sampled them a few years ago, but was intrigued when I saw them jump off from their expansive line of mineral supplements and drinks to this new eatCLEAN Vegan Whole Food Bar.

As expected from such a nutrition-focused company, the eatCLEAN bar is the epitome of functional food. This hefty snack blends energizing and sustainable organic foods (like almond butter, dates, flax sprouts, quinoa sprouts, and sesame seeds) with organic brown rice protein and and their proprietary trace mineral complex for a complete package of protein, healthy fats, fiber, minerals, and fruit sugars. Each eatCLEAN bar even boasts 10% of the RDA for calcium and iron, but remains low-sodium (just 5mg per entire bar!).

The texture of eatCLEAN is somewhat of a classic energy bar. Each bite is soft, just a little chewy, thick, and relatively smooth, with bits of textural interest from the sprouted additions.

eatCLEAN Vegan Whole Food Bar Review (dairy-free, gluten-free, organic)

In terms of taste, eatCLEAN is sweet, but not too sweet. Hints of tapioca syrup compliment and enhance the dates and raisins rather than turning the bar into a sugar fest (note that the bar is relatively high in overall sugars due to the fruit base). Dairy-free chocolate chips add melty, sporadic little surprises of deliciousness.

Though I typically prefer bars with less overall sugars, I wasn’t left with that post “candy bar” feeling after downing the entire eatCLEAN bar for my first breakfast of the day. Rather, it kept me going for 3 solid hours and left me satisfied rather than longing for sweets (a side effect I sometimes suffer with nutrition bars!).

Certifications: eatCLEAN Vegan Whole Food Bars are certified organic, vegan, kosher, solar powered, and by EcoCert. They are also labeled as gluten-free and non-GMO, though we did not spot official certifications.

Dietary Notes: By ingredients, eatCLEAN Vegan Whole Food Bars are dairy-free / non-dairy, egg-free, gluten-free, peanut-free, soy protein-free (they use soy lecithin), vegan, and vegetarian. Awesome!!! :D Can’t wait to try this bar! I’ve been a vegan for 3 years and a vegetarian for 12 years before that & I feel better than ever. It’s great to see that world is slowly starting to change & become more conscious of what’s truly going on in the meat and dairy industry. I love reading posts from like minded individuals!! :)
