Ener-G Cookies were one of the original gluten-free, dairy-free treats on the market. Though others have emerged, some with more classic tastes, these unique goodies have persisted.
These Ener-G Cookies are available in a wide range of flavors, including everything from kid-friendly Chocolate Chip to extra spicy Ginger.
Tasting Notes for Ener-G Cookies
So far, we’ve only sampled two of these gluten-free cookie varieties, but are eager to try more!
Chocolate Chip Potato
The first Ener-G Cookies I sample were the Chocolate Chip Potato, which were surprisingly delicious. Even though he’s gluten-free, I still consider Tony our toughest cookie reviewer. Or at least, he’s difficult to dazzle. He gave them a “pretty good” with a solid 4 star rating. They reminded him of a more indulgent cookie, but he couldn’t pinpoint it. By the end of the day, he’d consumed the whole bag!
Thankfully, he left one, just one, for me to sample. I loved the little bites of chocolate in the slightly sweet shortbread-like cookie base. I found these Ener-G Cookies to be flavorful, a touch indulgent (but not over the top), and great with tea or coffee. We definitely didn’t miss the wheat flour or butter in these gems.
We also trialed the Ginger Ener-G Cookies, which are definitely for spice fans. They have a pleasant melt-in-your-mouth texture, and are slightly chewy yet very soft. Our five ginger loving taste testers (all women coincidentally) loved the extra bold and spicy kick. We were sure they must be spiked with some fresh ginger. Each bite has just enough sugar to offset the spice, making them an excellent accompaniment to afternoon tea. Our non-ginger fans steered clear from these samples, which I think was wise. They are potent.
