Simple ingredients, no added sweeteners, amazing taste, and the perfect textural blend of organic fruit and nuts.
Alisa Fleming ~ I’m always on the lookout for a good brand of dairy-free, nutritious food bars. Not because we eat them daily, but rather I find it important to have some fallback packaged foods that I know we can trust when out and about or traveling. I love making bars at home, but my fresh, non-hermetically sealed treats won’t hold up in the car, on long trips, etc., and they aren’t sold in stores to pick up just when we need them.
You might have seen my shortlist of bar favorites, but I’ve got a new one that I am happily adding to this collection, Kit’s Organic Fruit & Nut Bars by Clif Bar (named after the co-owner of Clif Bar, Kit Crawford – it’s a husband and wife team!). They aren’t too different from a popular competitor, but just enough that they edge them out for me.
Here’s why I now love Kit’s Organic Bars:
Kit’s Organic Bars are currently available in four flavors:

Peanut Butter – Organic Dates, Organic Peanuts, Organic Almonds, Sea Salt (surprise, surprise, this was my favorite)
Berry Almond (pictured below) – Organic Dates, Organic Almonds, Organic Barberries, Organic Bilberries, Sea Salt (A nice fruity twist – kind of a cherry-blueberry flavor vibe)
Chocolate Almond Coconut – Organic Dates, Organic Almonds, Organic Unsweetened Chocolate, Organic Coconut, Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Sea Salt (richer than the others, but definitely dark chocolate in nature)
Cashew - Organic Dates, Organic Cashews, Organic Almonds, Sea Salt (A close second since I actually like cashews, as a nut, better than peanuts – I know, neither is technically a nut!)

And this is what happens when you’re trying in vain to take a good picture of tasty bars, and you haven’t yet had breakfast:

The only drawbacks for my household with these bars:
To note, some Kit’s Organic Fruit & Nut Bars were sent to me by Clif Bar, one of each, to sample. However, the opinions above are obviously my own – this was only $6 worth of food people! And, since I will be buying these bars with my own hard-earned money when they pop up at our local stores, you can consider this review self-funded.
Dietary Notes: By ingredients, the bars are Vegan, Vegetarian, Dairy-Free, Egg-Free, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free, Wheat-Free, and free of Added Sugars, but see the packaging and contact the company for allergen and manufacturing “may contain” labeling.

I thought you might like to know – Whole Foods has a coupon special on these bars curently (maybe until the end of the month, I’m not sure). It is buy one get one free with the coupons. They don’t mind if you take a bunch of coupon books, tear them out, and get 2 cases for the price of one (12 in a case) with 12 coupons. Plus, they are normally about 99cents a bar there and you get a case discount so I have gone in and gotten 24 Kit’s bars for $11.98 – the 10% case discount twice now. I am stocking up. All you have to do is tear the coupons out of the free coupon books. (I am not affiliated with Whole Foods, just a customer pleased with this bargain and these bars. ) I just wish there were a chocolate without coconut and with chocolate chips. Is the competitor you mention Raw Revolution? I actually like these a little better, but they are more expensive, the wrapper gets greasy, and although the sweetener is agave, which is good, it might have a little too much and the Kit’s doesn’t have it, although dates are maybe as sweet as agave. What do you think?

Sorry – I meant $11.88 a case. With the normal price less than a dollar, I’m sure I will buy more when the sale ends. Also, I like it that the Kit’s bars are not huge and have 200 or fewer calories. Other good nutritious nondairy and non added sugar bars have too many calories (at least Raw Revolution recently reduced theirs – but it’s still a little high at 230 or so). It’s hard to eat less than one bar, or if you do, hard sometimes to have what you need to wrap it up when you’re on the move. Anyway, I’d appreciate any info you might have about nondairy non-sugar-added, organic food, especially at an affordable price. Thans!

Thanks so much! I’ll be going to Whole Foods this week and will definitely pick up some with the coupons. I haven’t yet trialed Raw Revolution, but will put them on my list.
I do my best to find these types of products myself! I’ll keep my eye out and add more as I come across them in the reviews here.

Larabars are very similar and they have the same short ingredient lists. Here’s a recipe that should save you money: http://blog.outdoorherbivore.com/camp-tips/trail-bar-recipe. Haven’t tried it yet myself but I’m planning to soon.
