Alisa Fleming ~ It isn’t often that I’m actually enticed by a snack bar, but with flavors like Macadamia Pineapple and Acai Coconut packaged in pretty sky blue wrappers, Rise Bar managed to catch my attention. In fact, I swore off bar reviews for a little while … the sugars were really racking up! … but these were simply impossible to resist. Why? Beyond the eye-catching wrappers and super-health names lies some seriously impressive, yet nice and short, ingredient lists …
The Rise Crunchy Breakfast Bars are all-natural nutrition bars, made with hearty chunks of antioxidant-rich fruits and good quality nuts, and sweetened with a perfect blend of honey and dates. They get some of their additional crunch from crispy rice and amaranth. The flavors include:
I loved all of the flavors, but here are the tasting notes on the first Breakfast flavor that I trialed:
OMG, a new LOVE! Chewy, nutty, crispy – Soft and forgiving with little crisps (amaranth?) and big nut chunks (whole nuts in some bites!) – a perfect textural balance. Addictive all natural taste. Love the fresh honey flavor in this one. More sugar than I like to have for breakfast (11g), but not bad compared to other bars. Addictive, polished it off in seconds!
The Rise Energy+ Bars are organic, made with a softer blend of those nuts and fruits, and sweetened with organic tapioca syrup and brown rice syrup to keep them vegan. These energy bars are available in the following amazing flavors:
Again, I don’t want to bore you with repeat notes of admiration, so here are the tasting notes on the first Energy flavor that I taste-tested:
Again, love it! More of a “Powerbar” like texture, everything is ground, with some shredded coconut added for interest. It’s a very sweet, almost dessert-like bar, with a little more in the added sweeteners. Even so, I enjoyed it as a treat! Great flavor and a good energy boost for my workout when I hit that afternoon lull. Little bits of amaranth add some texture too, but this bar is still more soft and chewy than crunchy. The blueberry and coconut flavors really stand out and are great together!
If you are a “bar” fanatic, or looking for some nutrient-rich, all-natural snacking options, then I highly recommend giving Rise Bar a go. They are fairly priced and oh-so-tasty. To note, though I liked them all, the Breakfast Bar line was my all around favorite for taste, texture, and ingredients.
