Summary:

These heavy on the fruit bars have just enough nuts, hemp seeds, and protein powder to balance the flavor, texture and nutrients (10 grams fat, 7 grams protein, and 4 grams fiber) for a sweet, but satisfying pick-me-up. I found the Apple Pecan to be tasty, but just a touch too sweet (9 grams sugars) for everyday fuel - they could really get away with cutting the added sweetener (coconut nectar) altogether.

In my bag of goodies from Expo West, I discovered a lone Evo Hemp bar.

Evo Hemp Raw Cold Pressed Antioxidant Bars (Available in 6 Flavors; all raw, dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan and paleo)

Normally I wouldn’t write a review of just one flavor, but this wholesome nosh seemed worth covering. And perhaps we’ll be able to update this review with their rainbow of flavors in the near future.

In the meant time, I can weigh in on the Evo Hemp Apple Pecan Raw Cold-Pressed Health Bar. For starters, it has a wonderful apple cinnamon scent and notable apple taste on the heavy fruit bar backdrop (a base of figs and dates) with a smattering of pecan bites and textural hints of the hemp protein powder. I found it to be a little too sweet for breakfast (they could cut the coconut nectar sweetener, in my opinion), but good for afternoon fuel and healthy sweet cravings. According to the package, it’s intended to “restore balance” and have anti-inflammatory properties thanks to the added turmeric. Though I can’t verify the health benefits, I can vouch that it at least restored the balance in my stomach from famished to satiated!
