It’s naptime. That wonderful time of the afternoon when I have a minute to sit down, check my email, sip some tea, grab a family-size candy bar – no! But I could really go for a snack. Something sweet, but not too sweet, that won’t make me crash in half an hour. What to eat, what to eat?
Recently this question was answered for me by Hail Merry Macaroons. Macaroons are the answer! Healthy macaroons made from raw ingredients, that is.

I had the chance to try their Blonde Macaroons, as well as two new flavors: Sea Salt Caramel and Strawberry Almond. They are all lovely.

The Blonde Macaroons are made with organic shredded coconut, organic maple syrup, natural raw almond flour, organic extra virgin coconut oil, organic Madagascar bourbon vanilla, and sea salt. They do contain tree nuts. The sea salt and Madagascar bourbon vanilla add a depth of flavor that I was happily surprised to find in a raw food treat.
I tried them straight out of the fridge and at room temperature. The Hail Merry website recommends eating them at room temperature for a soft, melt-in-your mouth texture. Ah, the magic of coconut oil! However, I also enjoyed them chilled and chewy for a refreshing afternoon pick-me-up.
The bite-size portioning of Hail Merry Macaroons makes it easy to eat as many or as few as you’d like in a sitting. It also makes them ideal for sharing with the child who wakes up early from his nap. I think these would also make a great snack for school, depending on your school’s nut allergen policy.
I am anxious to see if Hail Merry releases the Caramel Sea Salt Macaroons and Strawberry Almond Macaroons I was able to try. I enjoyed them both very much and would certainly recommend them. I was especially surprised by the fresh flavor of the freeze-dried strawberries. I didn’t expect the Strawberry Almond Macaroons to be my favorite of the three flavors! I didn’t get to try Hail Merry’s Chocolate Macaroons; they might have won the taste testing for sure!
Dietary Notes: By ingredients, these macaroons are vegan, vegetarian, egg-free, dairy-free, and peanut-free. They do contain tree nuts and coconut. Nonetheless, check with the company on their manufacturing processes for all varieties if potential allergen cross-contamination is an issue for you. Processes and labeling are subject to change at any time for any company / product.

I discovered Hail Merry products at the Gluten-Free Allergen-Free Expo in San Francisco last month. I would have to agree – the Blonde Macaroons are fantastic – as are the Chocolate!

I was shocked to find this product in several flavors at my local TJMaxx!! Needless to say with all the hype about them I snagged each of the 3 bags they had.
I tried the chocolate, lemon, and blonde. All were great!!
*They are extremely dense in coconut, so they are not for someone who wants a hint of coconut.
They are the perfect little snack!
