I’m not usually one to jump on the superfood bandwagon, but when something pops up that I think has merit, I’m certainly not going to ignore it. The latest to catch my attention was moringa, thanks to Kuli Kuli Moringa Energy Bars.
Moringa is a drought-resistant plant that Kuli Kuli sustainably sources from women’s cooperatives in West Africa. It’s rich in calcium, iron, antioxidants, and is often touted as healthier than kale with anti-inflammatory benefits that rival turmeric.
The Crunchy Almond Flavor picture here was discontinued, but the other varieties look similar.
Tasting Notes for Kuli Kuli Moringa Superfood Bars
The creators of Kuli Kuli were spot on when generously labeling their bars with the word “nourishing”. This not only describes the ingredients, but also the taste of all three new flavors in my opinion …
Black Cherry
This wholesome bar was soft and nutty, but with chewy cherry infused throughout. I liked the pure and unmistakable fruit flavor that made this flavor a standout – especially for cherry fans.
Ingredients: cherries, almonds, dates, moringa, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, cinnamon, sea salt, organic sunflower oil. contains almonds.
Nutrition (per 1.6-ounce bar): 170 calories, 4g fat, 29g carbs, 5g fiber, 15g sugars (includes 0g added sugars), 5g protein.*
Dark Chocolate
Okay, they seriously won me over. While chocolate might seem like a given for our favorite, I’m often not a fan of chocolate-flavored energy bars. But these are very treat-like with nice dots of semi-sweet chocolate that permeate the overall taste of this bar. In fact, I was surprised to read that it contains cherries, too!

Truly enjoyed the dark chocolate
I really enjoyed the dark chocolate flavor, and thought it masked the moringa flavor well (it definitely tastes “green” on its own!). So awesome that these bars are a good natural source of some dairy-free calcium too.
