If you're craving a taste of Oreo nostalgia without all of the junk, then these creme-filled delights may be worth seeking out. The super sweet, sugary filling and crunchy cookie exteriors are simply made for dunking. Thus far, we've only sample the Original, but they offer an assortment of flavors.

Since I don’t currently have the appropriate facilities to bake or cook at the moment, I’ve decided to instead sample some ready-made vegan goodies, like Newman-O’s Creme Filled Cookies.

Newman-O's Creme Filled Cookies (dairy-free and vegan review)
Newman-O’s look exactly like classic Oreos, with bright white cream filling enclosed in two distinctive black patterned cookies. The difference is not only are they vegan, they’re also made with organic ingredients and without trans fats. And just in case you were feeling guilty about purchasing cookies instead of baking your own, you can write it off as a charitable contribution. Newman’s Own donates millions of dollars to various charities worldwide.

I was only able to secure a package of the Original flavor, but Newman-O’s come in many tasty sounding varieties. A few include Chocolate Creme, Mint Creme, and the ones I’m on the hunt for, Ginger Creme.

After contemplating the intricate little designs on the top cookie, I separated the layers for a taste of nostalgia. The creme filling was delightfully creamy and smooth, with a soft undertone of vanilla. But the strongest flavor was definitely the intense sweetness with enough sugar to induce a sugar coma.

I was surprised by the sturdiness of Newman-O’s. Beyond crisp, they are clearly a cookie for dunking. It softened to a much more agreeable structure after a few seconds submerged in a tall glass of soymilk. Alone, the cookie portion isn’t something I would be inclined to chow down on, as the cocoa elements fall a bit flat. But when eaten together in one bite, the two polar opposite textures create a beautiful match.

But don’t just take my word for it. If you’ve never tried Newman-O’s go pick some up for yourself! They’re pretty easy to locate, and I doubt you will be disappointed.
