Summary:

These unique products are loaded with green tea antioxidants and packed with flavor - any matcha fan will adore them. We loved the Mango and Dragon Fruit Mints and I have a fondness for the virtue of the strong effervescent drinks. The main caveat: the price puts these in the "treat" or "gift" zone for us.

Green tea has always been a hot beverage in my mind, perhaps appearing in its iced form during the summer. But Sencha Naturals is reinventing the delivery system of this antioxidant-rich leaf. They make adorable mints and potent “immune support” effervescent drink mixes that are a perfect energizing sweet hit for healthy, active resolutions.

The mints are Sencha Natural’s flagship product, and they’ve come out with a variety of interesting flavors. Kylie and I were the reviewers on these, and we both loved the sweeter Mango and Dragon Fruit flavors. They have beautifully complimenting ingredients that offer a little sweet hit, without all of the added sugars.

Kylie also liked the Mint, which was a little too potent for my tastes. I enjoyed the Original – a mellow and more subdued green tea treat than the others. Though I usually love all things spice, we both found the Chai a little overpowering and almost “masculine” in taste.

I like that the ingredients are simple in Sencha Naturals Mints, using real Green Tea Powder / Extract and Sorbitol, Xylitol and Stevia for sweetening. They even use real fruit extracts for the flavored varieties. Plus, its hard not to love the cute tea leaf shapes of each little mint.

Sencha Naturals Green Tea Mints come packaged a variety of ways, including the handy tubes pictured above, 3-packs in little mock tea bags (3 mints provides the equivalent in antioxidants of 1 cup green tea – ingenious packaging!), and the attractive tins pictured below.

But Sencha Naturals latest product release is far from minty. They’ve come out with a line of effervescent drink mixes, much like Emergen-C, but with an organic green tea base and without the chemicals. Labeled as Green Tea + C, it currently comes in three flavors: Original, Dragon Fruit, and Citrus Ginger.

The drink mixes have a bold green tea flavor that is complimented nicely by the sweeter dragon fruit, and almost challenged a bit by the punchy citrus and ginger ingredients. The Original is perfect for green tea purists. Rather than mimic those other vitamin C packets, Sencha Naturals created a richer, more grown-up drink mix, with more natural nutrients and antioxidants.

There were just a few caveats about this product for me. First, the green tea powder doesn’t dissolve all of the way. With each glass, I was left with some behind to re-swish in water – though I did expect this. Second, since they don’t have a decaf version, it isn’t always a good option for after a workout (which is when I like these drinks), since I tend to workout around 4 or 5pm and am too sensitive to caffeine that late in the day. My issue, I know, so no stars docked for that. Finally, it’s a little out of my everyday budget. I definitely get the higher quality of the product – so when I can justify it, I will be purchasing more.
