Updated in 2015! I love product innovators. Some people have the drive to take what they want to see in a healthy food, and make it happen. The founder of Wellness Foods is one of those amazing entrepreneurs. She’s taken the high-protein, low sugar world by storm with an array of bars, and her latest creation, Simply Protein Chips.
The word “protein” doesn’t usually make my taste buds do a happy dance, but I tell you, these protein chips are quite tasty. Made with pea protein and potato, each dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free and vegan bite has an audible crunch that is simply irresistible. Plus, they come in four powerful flavors …
Chili – These healthy protein chips have a spicy-sweet heat that is bold, but just within range for my timid taste buds. Spice lovers will like the cayenne bite, but those who love to savor their snacks will appreciate that these aren’t over-the-top hot.
Herb – This fresh flavor has an amazing mellow garlic and onion flavor with a hint of sweetness. I was so impressed with fresh herbs actually came tumbling out of the bag. This is real food people!
Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper – Super peppery and perfectly salty, these Simply Protein Chips are great for heavy craving days. My only note is the high sodium and the slightly “off” almost bitter aftertaste.
BBQ Tomato – We haven’t sampled these yet, but since I love anything barbecue-flavored, I’d likely give them the thumbs. up.
As for the nutritionals, each bag of Simply Protein Chips contains just 2 grams of sugars, 4 grams of fat, 140 calories, and a whopping 15 grams of protein. I like that the servings are fairly generous, too … expecially considering how addictive these healthy chips are!
