In recent years, the line of Coconut Milk Ice Cream Bars from So Delicious has rapidly expanded, all falling under their “Minis” label. Honestly, I think they are slighting themselves a bit with that title. Though I have seen a few comments from fans requesting “full-size” coconut milk ice cream bars, these frozen treats are far more substantial than that little name implies.
In fact, I find them to be the perfect amount for satiating my sweet tooth and on par with the size of regular ice cream bars when I was a child. Not to mention, they each boast such richness in both flavor and consistency that larger versions could be too much.
The latest flavors to be released are the Simply Strawberry and Just Java.
Much like a latte, these coconut milk ice cream bars have a pure, dark-roast coffee vibe on a very, very creamy backdrop, with just the right amount of sugar added. Our resident coffee drinkers adored them, and I must admit to liking them myself, even though I’m not a fan of the bean.
The intense natural flavor of these bars makes for an awesome “smack you in the face” strawberry experience. Each of us proclaimed, “Wow, that’s strawberry!” with our very first taste, and then proceeded to devour every bit of the creamy decadence.
So Delicious’s Certified Organic 80 calorie line of coconut milk ice cream bars currently includes one other flavor, Organic Fudge, which we haven’t sampled yet. Please feel free to comment and share your own review if you have. These three organic frozen desserts are also certified gluten-free, and have new compostable, plant-based sticks (see image below). I love that they aren’t wooden (no splinters!).
But there is still more in the Minis line-up of coconut milk ice cream bars, and we have sampled the following thus far:
Smallish yet thick and mighty like the organic minis coconut milk ice cream bars, the No Sugar Added Fudge Bars are also fulfilling for such a low calorie (80 per bar) treat. These are “made with organic ingredients” and have a very creamy consistency with gentle cocoa notes. The sugar alternatives used (erythritol and monk fruit extract) were a bit too ever-present for my taste buds and weren’t as complimentary in flavor as I had hoped. But for those who want a sweet and rich coconut milk indulgence and must avoid sugars, these have just 1 gram in the entire bar!
One of the best marriages in my mind is vanilla “ice cream” and chocolate. Not chocolate sauce, but actual shards of chocolate. The rewarding experience of having sweet frozen cream melt on your tongue, only to have chocolate chunks emerge just when you thought the pleasure had ended. These bars create a similar experience, only in reverse. A premium coconut milk-based, dairy-free “ice cream” is encased in a semi-thick chocolate coating.
The Vanilla (above right) coconut milk ice cream bars have a smooth semi-sweet chocolate coating, while the Coconut Almond (above left) are also studded with almond bits. While I certainly have nothing against just chocolate, and won’t hesitate to polish off the entire box, I must admit that the almonds added a little something, with somewhat of a toffee-like vibe. Tony agreed, but he liked both bars so much that it wouldn’t matter which one I placed in his hand.
Though they have more calories than the organic coconut milk ice cream bars above, we are still looking at a good satisfaction per calorie return. Plus, they are still certified vegan and certified gluten-free. To note, all So Delicious Dairy Free products are Non-GMO Verified.
Certifications: The Minis Coconut Milk Ice Cream Bars are certified gluten-free, vegan and kosher parve. They are also non-GMO verified and select varieties (as noted above) are certified organic.
