In recent years, the line of Coconut Milk Ice Cream Bars from So Delicious has quickly expanded. However, the full-size have vanished. Each variety now comes in perfectly-portioned “Minis”. But honestly, I think they are slighting themselves a bit with that title. Though I have seen a few comments from fans requesting bigger coconut milk ice cream bars, these frozen treats are far more substantial than that little name implies.
In fact, they are just right for satiating my sweet tooth. And they are on par with the size of most of the regular ice cream bars from my childhood. Not to mention, each bare boasts such richness in both flavor and consistency that larger versions could be too much.
Tasting Notes for So Delicious Minis Coconut Milk Ice Cream Bars
The latest flavors to be released in the Minis line up are the Simply Strawberry and Just Java. Nonetheless, they have several other Coconut Milk Ice Cream Bars, some of which are included in this review, too.
Fudge No Sugar Added
Smallish yet thick and mighty, the No Sugar Added Fudge Coconut Milk Ice Cream Bars are quite fulfilling for such a low calorie (80 per bar) treat. These are “made with organic ingredients” and have a very creamy consistency with gentle cocoa notes. The sugar alternatives used (erythritol and monk fruit extract) were a bit too ever-present for my taste buds and weren’t as complimentary as I had hoped. But for those who want a sweet, rich indulgence without the sugars, these have just 1 gram in an entire bar!
One of the best marriages in my mind is vanilla dairy-free ice cream and chocolate. Not chocolate sauce, but actual shards of chocolate. It’s such a rewarding experience to have sweet frozen cream melt on your tongue, followed by the emergence of chocolate chunks just when you thought the pleasure had ended. These bars create a similar experience, only in reverse. A premium coconut milk-based frozen dessert is encased in a semi-thick chocolate coating.
The Vanilla (above right) coconut milk ice cream bars have a smooth semi-sweet chocolate coating. While the Coconut Almond (above left) are also studded with almond bits. I adored the one without almonds, but the almonds did add something extra-special. They provided an almost toffee-like vibe. Tony agreed, but he liked both bars so much that it wouldn’t matter which one I placed in his hand. And though they have more calories than the organic coconut milk ice cream bars above, we are still looking at a good satisfaction per calorie return.
Organic Just Java and Simply Strawberry Minis (DISCONTINUED)
Sadly, these two creamy, flavorful bars were discontinued.
