Special Diet Notes: Sweet Marmalade Popcorn Balls
By ingredients, this recipe is dairy-free / non-dairy, egg-free, gluten-free, nut-free, peanut-free, soy-free, vegan / plant-basd, and vegetarian.
- 1½ cups sugar
- 1¼ cups water
- 1 cup orange marmalade
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup light corn syrup (can sub honey)
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 5 quarts popped popcorn
- Add the sugar, water, marmalade, salt, light corn syrup and vinegar to a saucepan and stir to combine. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Let cook until a thermometer reads 250°F, the hard ball stage.
- Place the popcorn in a large bowl and slowly pour the sweet mixture over-top while mixing thoroughly.
- Using greased hands, shape the popcorn into 2½-inch balls and let set.
