Byron Burger is a popular burger chain in the UK that aims to serve “proper hamburgers” to all. In fact, their menu has recently expanded to include some vegan options.
Their big burger menu now includes the Beetnik. It’s a vegan burger with a beetroot falafel patty, baby kale, smashed avocado, tomato, pickled red onions, red pepper ketchup, and lime dressed rainbow slaw. And the launch of the Beetnik was so successful that they are now trialing out new vegan milkshakes and “freakshakes” at select locations.
The extra-thick vegan shakes are being released in strawberry and brownie flavors. The “freakshake” features vegan vanilla ice-cream, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce topped with a whole brownie from the Vegan Antics bakery.
The decision makers at Byron Burger have made it clear that they listen heavily to consumer demands. So I recommend making your way to one of their restaurants to try out these new dairy-free and vegan offerings. It will help to make sure they stay on the menu, and that new options appear!
Other vegan options include their signature cocktails, Bourbon Mojitos and Ruby Tuesdays, Superfood Salad, House Salad, plain French Fries, and plain Sweet Potatoes. For build-your-own fans, their Byron Buns (regular and kids) and Gluten-Free Buns are also labeled as vegan. And so is their Pulled Jackfruit and several condiments.
And More Options for Dairy-Free Diners
For “just” dairy free diners, there are even more savory menu items to choose from. They don’t currently offer dairy-free cheese, but their Beef Patty, Flex Patty (a 50/50 mix of beef and sauteed mushrooms), and Pulled BBQ Beef Brisket are dairy free. So you can make almost any beef burger on the menu dairy free.
And I love that they are aware that milk is an allergen! They have this stated on their website as a precaution:
Allergens: All chicken on our menu is marinated in buttermilk. Please be aware that while our kids chicken does not contain dairy as an ingredient, we do cook it with the same equipment as our adult buttermilk chicken, meaning it may be subject to cross-contamination with dairy.
You can see a full allergen menu with vegan and vegetarian options via their website (below).
