CA, San Diego – Donna Jean: Plant-Based Comfort Cuisine

Donna Jean emerged from a passion for sustainability, plant based living, and seasonal comfort food. Their menu has many intriguing veggie-forward dishes. But don’t be fooled by the “Baked Ricotta” and “Caeasar Salad” titles. Everything is vegan at this San Diego restaurant, and served in an inviting ambiance.

Donna Jean has something for everyone with lunch and dinner six days a week, weekend brunch, and drinks! This somewhat rustic establishment is most known for innovative pizzas, but also offers a variety of entrees, salads, and pastas. The menu also includes many gluten-free options, which are clearly marked.

Some of their most popular dishes include the Salisbury Tempeh, Four Horsemen Pizza with four types of dairy-free cheese, Vegetable Omelette, and French Toast served with house-made orange macadamia yogurt. However, their menus do change with the seasons to feature fresh seasonal produce and timely ingredients.

And we can’t forget about the desserts! Their sweet selection currently includes Persimmon Creme Brulee, New Mexico Chile Chocolate Pie, and Pear Cobbler. But I’m guessing that fresh berries and cool treats will make an appearance at other times of the year.
