Carl’s Jr – A Star for Special Diet Burger Options

    7
By Alisa Fleming on February 21, 2021 Fast Food Restaurants

Updated April 2022! Though they have more menu items, the menu at Carl’s Jr. has actually simplified a bit over the years, making it easier to custom order without dairy. We’ve detailed the options based on the most recent data available, and have even added a separate new vegan menu guide and additional allergen tips. We’ve also merged Green Burrito into this listing, since all Green Burrito locations are attached to Carl’s Jr.

Carl’s Jr. Dairy-Free Menu Guide with Allergen, Vegan, and Green Burrito Info

Carl’s Jr. Dairy-Free Menu Guide with Allergen, Vegan, and Green Burrito Info

Be aware of special order requirements in parentheses () next to the menu items, and see the Heads Up notes to help fill in the blanks. Please note that this guide is for the U.S. locations. Options may vary in other countries.

Butter Note: It is not corporate policy at Carl’s Jr to use butter on their buns or grill. But franchise owners and managers can take liberties, so be sure to verify “not butter” before ordering.

Other Allergen & Dietary Notes: For gluten-free guests, Carl’s Jr offers a great lettuce wrap option instead of a bun. All of the non-egg items listed below can be ordered without egg, without any mayo-based sauces. All of the items listed below are also made without peanuts and tree nuts. For vegan options, see the Vegan Menu Guide at the bottom of this post.

Heads Up! According to their most recent ingredient information, the egg and breakfast meat components are made without milk. But be sure to verify in your store, as they haven’t updated this information in a couple of years, and we haven’t been able to get a response from corporate. The French Toast Sticks do contain milk.

I’ve ordered the Beyond famous star maybe 40 times from carls Jr. Id say cheese or mayo makes it on about a 10th of the time. I’ve had a meat patty instead of beyond a few times as well. But the worst was when I was given extra mayo instead of the no mayo that I had as for. It was literally on the bottom and top bun and on the burger itself. It was a monstrosity of mayo. After that I didn’t go back for at least a year. It’s fast food so you can’t expect perfection. But it’s nice in a pinch to have a place to eat that usually can give you a vegan burger so you don’t have to live off fries or a side salad with no dressing. If you’ve been vegan for a while you know what I mean.

The Carl’s Jr. in Wichita Falls, TX was unable/unwilling to make any breakfast burrito without cheese. Saying they “we’re all already mixed together”.

I ate the beyond breakfast burrito with no cheese. They made sure it had no cheese and verified with me to make sure it was correct.

Looking at your listings for what can be made dairy free at Carl’s Jr, I’d like to share what I learned on a recent trip. On the six dollar burgers (like the guacamole bacon,) you also have to request a sesame seed bun. Brioche buns contain butter, and they also grill them with butter.

Also the breakfast burritos all have the cheese premixed in so there is no way to hold the cheese. Found out the hard way.
