Freebirds is a Texas Favorite for Dairy-Free Burritos and Bowls

By Alisa Fleming on March 26, 2022 Dining Out, Suggested Restaurants, U.S. Restaurants

Updated March 2022! As we headed to the California Coast, on our drive home from a trade show in Anaheim, we stumbled upon a Freebirds for lunch. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food tasted delicious with some pleasantly bold flavors. The menu selection is quite similar to Chipotle or Qdoba, but with their own twists. Since that day, many Freebird locations have come and gone – including the ones in California. They’re now primarily a Texan chain, but still offer a big menu of dairy-free and vegan options, including the ones listed below.

Freebirds - a chain Mexican food restaurant (much like Chipotle in style) with ample dairy-free, gluten-free & vegan options.

Freebirds Dairy-Free Menu Guide with Gluten-Free & Vegan Options

Freebirds offers an Allergen Guide, but they don’t regularly update it online. Below is the latest information on dairy-free items from the company. They have a few preset bowls, but primarily have a build your own menu, with four different sizes of burritos, bowls, salads, and tacos, and the following component selections. Be aware of special order requirements in parentheses () next to the menu items, and see the Heads Up notes to help fill in the blanks.

Other Allergen & Dietary Notes: All of these Freebirds items are are also made without egg, gluten, nuts, peanut, and soy, unless otherwise noted. And this dairy-free menu guide is vegan, except for the animal meats and paleo bowl.

We lived in TX near a Freebirds and it was our go-to for busy nights! They got to know my son and would get fresh gloves when they saw him walk in the door 🙂 There was one employee who was so sweet to him she took care of his needs every time. We now live in NJ and the boys want us to open a Freebirds here because they miss it so much!
