Snow or shine, Hoche Glacé is open for business in the quaint Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood of Montreal. They serve an impressive array of both dairy and dairy-free soft serve ice cream. But unlike other shops with just one or two selections, they have whole menus of vegan goodies.
Hoche Glacé is the Non-Dairy Queen of Ice Cream in Montreal
The employees at this local ice creamery are well-versed on their vegan options, so don’t hesitate to inquire. They always have at least a few vegan soft serve flavors available made with rice milk, soy milk, or coconut milk. Those creamy flavors often include vanilla, matcha, or chocolate, but they also have several vegan sorbet flavors.
You can stick with a simple cup or cone at Hoche Glacé (they have gluten-free cones, too!), or you can upgrade your dessert with some of their indulgent add-ons. They offer dips that instantly freeze into a sweet hard shell. We have confirmed that they offer a vegan dark chocolate dip, but we’ve heard they have a couple more dairy-free dip flavors too.
Hoche Glacé offers an array of vegan toppings, including Oreos and cookie dough. You can build your own sundae with the chunk toppings and some of their dairy-free syrups, like salted caramel or raspberry. Or you can ask them to blend it up blizzard-style for an over-the-top dessert. They also bake vegan oatmeal chocolate cookies, and use them to make fresh-swirled dairy-free ice cream sandwiches.
On chillier days, you can enjoy some of their coffee drinks. At last check, they served almond, rice, soy, and coconut milks as plant-based options.
Hoche Glacé isn’t small for an ice cream shop, but it’s popular and does fill up quickly. If the weather is good, you can enjoy the terrace or walk to the nearby Maisonneuve Market.
And you might want to bring your pooch. Hoche Glacé has treats like ice cream sandwiches available for dogs too!
