On the Hill Cafe is a conscious little neighborhood spot. For starters, they operate 100% on wind power, they compost and/or recylce ALL outgoing waste, and their cooking oil is repurposed as biodiesel fuel.
But within that tiny footprint, On the Hill Cafe produces a very broad menu that is focused on local, organic, and high quality natural food. Their eggs come from a local farm, the beef and turkey that they use is humane certified with no hormones and no antibiotics, and their produce is of course, local and organic whenever possible.
Such pure food enables On the Hill Cafe to accommodate special diets like dairy-free with simple, wholesome cuisine. You can build your own burger, go for a naturally vegan option (like the Rice, Beans & Plantains or the Mt. Royal Sandwich), or request a dairy-free version for one of their other entrees. The staff is reportedly quite helpful.
On the Hill Cafe serves breakfast, lunch, dinner (though they aren’t a late night spot), and coffee drinks (we haven’t yet confirmed if they have dairy-free milk alternatives).
