Pizza Pizza: Dairy-Free Cheese Makes this Canadian Chain Grate!

According to a new press release, Pizza Pizza has launched dairy-free cheese as a topping option at all of their locations across Canada. The cheese alternative is by Violife, and is vegan certified.

Pizza Pizza Chain in Canada offers Dairy-Free Cheese and Gluten-Free Crust

“We’re on a mission to provide quality options that meet the different flavour and dietary preferences of our customers,” said Pat Finelli, Chief Marketing Officer for Pizza Pizza. “The great thing about pizza is that it can be customized and made exactly how you like it. You choose the crust, sauce, cheese and toppings. This new dairy-free vegan cheese is just one more way customers can make our pizza their own.”

Pizza Pizza is among the first major chains to add vegan cheese to its menu. And in the short time that it has been available, has received an overwhelmingly positive response from the vegan community. Over its 50 years in operation, Pizza Pizza has evolved offerings to meet consumer tastes. They’ve even introduced gluten free dough, switched to chicken products raised without antibiotics, and eliminated trans fats from their menus.

To note, the Classic and Whole Grain crusts at Pizza Pizza are vegan. However, their Gluten Free crust does contain beef gelatin. Nonetheless, it does appear to be dairy-free. They do not offer a dairy-free menu, but rather have a list of the items that DO contain dairy:

Garlic Sticks, Garlic Bread/Toast, Buffalo Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce, Creamy Garlic Dipping Sauce, Jalapeno Cheddar Sauce, Peppercorn Ranch Dipping Sauce, Pesto Sauce, All Cheeses, Chicken Strips, All Milk/Dairy Beverages, Genoa Salami, Poutine, Crouton, Creamy Dill Sauce, Cheesy Bread, Meatball, Buffalo Blue Cheese sauce, Fettuccine Alfredo, Macaroni & Cheese, Meat Lasagna, Mini Italian meatball, Jalapenos Poppers, Breaded Pickle Spears, Funnel Cake Stix, Caramel Dipping Sauce, Sriracha Creamy Garlic Dipping Sauce, Kraft Creamy Caesar Dressing, Kraft Rancher’s Choice Dressing (Calorie Wise), Two-Bite Brownies.

But like most pizza joints, Pizza Pizza is a restaurant environment, serving foods that are not in sealed packages. Therefore, they unfortunately cannot guarantee a 100% allergy-free environment.
