Island Gluten Free Bakery offers a wonderful (and wide) selection of cakes, pies, and muffins, but they are best known for their breads, which are also Rice Free, Bean Free, and Sugar Free. They bake from scratch daily using all natural and/or organic ingredients.

Island Gluten Free Bakery also sells their own line of packaged gluten-free goodies under the label Stellar Gluten Free, which they sell locally and can ship nationwide. Our friend, Amy B., ordered some of their breads (she lives in the Massachusetts), and was quite impressed:

Island Gluten Free Bakery in Sarasota Florida ships nationwide (dairy-free French bread pictured)The Island Gluten Free Bakery French Bread (mini version pictured) is not too bad in the nutrition department with 6 grams of fiber. And I love that it’s made with olive oil, rather than butter. It arrived frozen, so I defrosted it in the microwave for two minutes, and then popped it in the oven in some tinfoil for five minutes. It toasted up perfectly – no burned spots, and not squishy at all. It sliced perfectly when I cracked it open- not a crumble to be found. And the taste was out of this world. It had that nice sweet taste of traditional French bread and a texture that wasn’t chewy or sticky like so many other gluten-free breads. It was just amazing.

Island Gluten Free Bakery in Sarasota Florida ships nationwide (dairy-free Hamburger Buns pictured)The Hamburger Buns were a little higher in fat than expected, but they contain no added sugar and have 3 grams of fiber. To trial, I let them defrost at room temperature and then toasted to eat with an Amy’s Veggie Burger.

I cracked the bun open and and there wasn’t a single crumble. It also held together perfectly in the toaster. But the real test came when I doused it in spicy brown mustard and assembled my veggie burger. A lot of gluten-free buns fall apart when they get “wet”, but this one held on and tasted fantastic! The bread was sweet – almost treat like – it kind of reminded me of Kinnickinnick breads. Overall, it was more like a nice gourmet hamburger bun, like you would receive in an “upscale” burger joint.
