CA, Palo Alto and Mt. View – Garden Fresh


This is an all-vegan Chinese restaurant serving up lunch and dinner. The San Francisco Chronicle gave it a "good" rating, with the following closing remarks:

"While the restaurant staff was typically friendly and welcoming, on one visit we had a server who could barely be bothered to take our order. Still, three visits afforded three pleasant experiences, leaving us feeling healthful, satisfied and well fed."

They sampled the various mock "meats" in their visits to this veg establishment, and were quite pleased:

"The most intriguing mock meat is the grilled "salmon" ($10.95), round slices of tofu with a ribbon of seaweed around the edge. The seaweed flavor nearly had me convinced me the tofu was salmon, and the texture was similar to that of swordfish. The slices are coated in a rich brown sauce that the menu marks as spicy, although, like the other dishes labeled hot, it's merely warm."
