It all started with Cowvin sandwich cookies, Little Devil chocolate cake sandwiches, and Sticky Buns in Doron Petersan’s kitchen. But the eventual opening of Sticky Fingers Bakery forever put vegan desserts on the map. Doron has won many titles, including champion on Cupcake Wars, and she also launched Fare Well Diner. Meanwhile, Sticky Fingers has remained as one of the most popular all-vegan bakeries in the country.
Beyond vegan, Sticky Fingers Bakery includes selections on their “Cafe Eats” menu for nut-free, soy-free and wheat-free diners. That menu includes numerous brunch and lunch savories, including Biscuits & Gravy, Chorizo Tacos, California Burgers, Plant Power Wraps, Shepherd’s Pie, and much more.
And of course there are sweets, many daily, mouth-watering sweets that can be dined on or taken to go with a coffee drink or tea. The choices include 7 regular cupcakes flavors plus 2 to 3 specialty or seasonal options, cookies, muffins, whoppie pies, sticky buns, crumb cakes, and the list goes on. The donuts are “not-so-daily”, so plan ahead (at last check they were available Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays), if you’re craving this nostalgic bite.
Sticky Fingers Bakery also caters and makes custom-order cakes, ranging from 6-inch to full wedding towers. And their flavor selection is quite amazing. Among the Classic Vanilla and Chocolate Love, you’ll find options for Bunny Huggers Carrot Walnut, Tiramisu, Boston Creme, Peanut Butter Fudge, Grasshopper, and so much more. They are able to make wheat-free cakes, too, but make it quite clear that they aren’t a gluten-free facility.
And for those of us who aren’t in the DC area, Sticky Fingers Bakery has mail order. They ship sweet loaves, cookies, brownies and Bake-It-Yourself kits throughout the U.S. Yes, you can even order those infamous Cowvin Cookies.
