WI, Kenosha – Scoops Ice Cream Parlor

Thanks to June for sending her recommendation of this great ice cream shop:

“You must let others know abouyt a great place I just found…Scoops Ice Cream in Kenosha, WI.  They carry 8-9 vegan, dairy free ice cream options!  They have 4 soy kreme based yummies that are my fav…chocolate, vanilla bean, butter pecan & Mint Choc Chunk!  To die for!  Their vegan sorbet is also delicious — mango is great in a freeze-brain…one of their signature vegan drinks made with seltzer water and sorbet — yum!  I also love the Champagne sorbet and the Rasberry together — worth a double scopp to have the two together!

This place rocks!  They also have soy milk and dairy free whipped cream….who would’ve ever thought a vegan could go out for ice cream with all her friends!  PERFECT!  PS, owners are real nice, too!  They have a toy store next door which is loads of fun, too!’

Also, according the Kenosha News:

” … nine of the 42 hand-dipped sorbets and soy-based “ice creams” currently come in non-dairy flavors like chocolate, butter pecan, mint chocolate chunk, toasted coconut, vanilla bean. Jenny Heim also concocts a rich whipped topping daily from non-dairy ingredients. Atop a three-scoop banana split or a sundae, it rivals any traditional whipped cream in taste and texture, just as the hand-dipped, soy-based products rival conventional ice cream. The same vendor makes the dairy and non-dairy varieties, which, according to Jenny, numerous non-vegan patrons, much to their surprise, have found to their liking.”

The non-dairy “creamy” varieties were added to the menu specifically with milk allergies and lactose intolerance in mind.
