Flax and Sunflower Seed Bread for Bread Machines

The seed infusion and topping adds nutrition to this loaf, and provides a heartier finish. It's perfect for wheat and multi-grain bread lovers.
Serves: 1½ pound loaf
  • 1⅓ cups water
  • 2 tablespoons dairy-free buttery spread or your favorite baking oil
  • 3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (for vegan)
  • 1½ cups bread flour
  • 1⅓ cups whole wheat bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • ½ cup ground flaxseed
  • ½ cup shelled sunflower seeds
  1. Place all ingredients (except sunflower seeds) in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer.
  2. Select the basic white cycle for a 1½ pound loaf and press start.
  3. Add the sunflower seeds when the alert sounds during the knead cycle.
