I like my French toast nice and thick. So I use home-baked bread and slice it relatively thick.

Ingredients
  • 2 slices dairy-free bread (Amy uses gluten-free)
  • 1 egg + 2 egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla dairy-free milk beverage
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Dairy-free buttery spread, for the pan and serving
  • Maple syrup, for serving (optional)
  • Fresh fruit, for serving (optional)
Instructions
  1. Preheat your griddle or pan over medium heat.
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together the egg, egg whites, milk beverage, cinnamon, and vanilla.
  3. Soak the bread in the batter for about 30 seconds per side.
  4. Melt a little buttery spread in the preheated pan and swirl it around.
  5. Place the dipped bread in your preheated pan and cook for about 2 minutes per side, or until golden.
  6. Serve with more buttery spread and maple syrup, if desired.
Notes
Egg Note: If you want to avoid leftover egg yolks, you can use 2 whole eggs, and omit the whites.
