Black sesame seeds add color and crunch. In a pinch, you can substitute white sesame seeds, flaxseeds, poppy seeds, chia seeds, or simply omit the seeds.

Ingredients
  • 12 cups air popped popcorn
  • ¼ cup dairy-free buttery spread or coconut oil
  • ¼ cup honey (sub agave nectar for strictly vegan)
  • 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 300ºF and line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the popped popcorn in large mixing bowl.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt together the buttery spread or coconut oil, honey, matcha powder and salt, whisking until dissolved. Pour the hot mixture over the popcorn and gently toss with a wooden spoon to combine.
  4. Spread the popcorn mixture out on your prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with sesame seeds (if using).
  5. Bake the popcorn for 25 to 30 minutes, giving it a stir every 10 minutes or so, or until the popcorn is dry.
  6. Let the matcha popcorn cool completely before serving.
