  1. Bake the cupcakes according to the recipe directions, and let them cool completely. Prepare the frosting while the cupcakes cool.
  2. Use the wide end of a pastry tip to remove a "core" from a cupcake. Cut only about halfway down so the sprinkles don't come out the bottom of the cupcake. Fill the resulting hole with 1 teaspoon sprinkles. Replace the piece of cupcake on top of the sprinkles. Repeat with the remaining cupcakes.
  3. Frost the cupcakes.
  4. Using a small, clean brush, gently dust the tops of the cupcakes with the gold cake dust, or sprinkle with gold or yellow sprinkles.
