    *Regional Grocer – Northeast – Wegman’s

    1
By Alisa Fleming on March 26, 2010 Grocers, U.S. Grocers for Special Diets

Thanks to Go Dairy Free viewer Kim for sending in this recommendation:

“In the northeast, we have a chain grocer called Wegmans.  They have a really good health food section that has a lot of allergen-free products – some are dairy free, some soy free, some gluten free, etc.”

Out of curiosity, I went onto the Wegman’s site and discovered a very awesome feature. They have a “browse the store” section that allows you to do a make-ahead shopping list. This is awesome, especially when you are trying to hunt down specialty foods. For fun (unfortunately they aren’t in my area), I did a couple of quick searches and found that Wegman’s carries both of the dairy-free frozen pizzas from Amy’s, So Delicious Coconut Milk Yogurt, and Nutritional Yeast – and I was just warming up! If you select your store, you can even view pricing of the products.

I’d just like to add two more reasons I love shopping for allergen-free products at Wegmans. If you’re checking out products on the website as you mentioned, you can actually view the whole nutrition label on there. Also, the Wegmans store brand products are super good at identifying all allergens clearly on their packaging.
