Alisa Fleming ~ Another dairy-free ice cream recipe book – what an amazing summer! Every book is different though, and this one is no exception. Kelly Brozyna, the author of Dairy-Free Ice Cream, focuses on creamy and healthy. She uses rich ingredients like cashews, coconut (naturally), and hempseeds to make luxurious and completely dairy-free ice cream. For sweetening, Kelly sticks to coconut sugar, medjool dates, apple juice, and honey or agave.

This is seriously my kind of dairy-free ice cream recipe book. I never loved dairy cream, but do adore the rich flavors and textures of cashews and coconut, especially when combined with natural sweeteners and frozen to create dreamy bliss. In fact, many of the recipes look like ones that could have come out of my own kitchen!

Another thing that I love about this cookbook is the simplicity. There is an intro that covers ingredients and tips, but then Kelly goes straight into the recipes. Her recipe writing is also all about flow. You won’t see complicated lists of instructions, but rather quick instructions placed within the ingredients to keep you moving in the kitchen and done prepping the ice cream within minutes.

In terms of diets, Dairy-Free Ice Cream is also gluten-free, soy-free, refined sugar-free, peanut-free, and vegan-friendly. Most of the recipes even boarder on (or could be called) paleo.

  1. I would love this book because it’s exactly what I want my son to eat. These are the ingredients that good body and brain food are made of. And almost equally important, contributing to the wonderful memories he’ll have one day of eating delicious, melting ice cream on hot summer day!

Back then alternate ice cream wasn’t tasty… these days they have greatly improved it but I miss having a range of flavours. It would be awesome to have this book!   5. I would love to have a copy of this book because I’m trying to offer my family ‘healthier’ dessert options and personally think that they currently consume too much cows milk. I keep nut milks available and encourage them to drink those when we **ahem* run out of cows milk and I don’t have time to hit the grocery store thinking their taste buds might adapt. lol

  7. I grew up with a father who was an ice-cream maker for a dairy company, so we always had tubs of many flavors in our freezer, and the addiction was formed! I have a couple chronic tick-borne illnesses and lactose feeds the microbes, so milk has been off my diet for the last 4 years, and my ice cream maker sits idle, waiting for a new batch of recipes . I have followed Kelly’s blog for a while now and love her recipes, ingredient choices, photos, and stories behind the recipes. Since my husband lost his job almost a year ago, I’ve only been able to put her books in my Amazon wish list – I’d love to have them all, and would be thrilled to have this one!!   8. I would enjoy having this book because I am recently entering the vegan way of eating, but one part I missed is the delicious creamy Ice Cream that traditionally is make with milk. Milk is one of the ingredients I am getting out of my life and I am using non dairy products, such as potato milk, to help my body work out the cholesterol that is part of my family life. I had tried coconut ice cream, and is really delicious, but I would like to try different recipes to my sweet tooth.

I also bake with natural sweeteners and appreciate that you do the same with your ice cream. I have wanted to make my own for a couple of years, but haven’t yet.     I would love to have this book for my whole family…we have been recently diagnosed with multiple allergies and thankfully feeling much better since changing our diet…it has changed our lives! My 7 year old is dairy, my 5 year old is dairy, soy, egg, gluten, and I am dairy, egg and gluten – we are ice cream lovers and would love the chance to enjoy it and I have purchased a machine so I am ready to go…I just need the recipies!
