Dairy-Free Yogurt Tubes and Pouches for Every Lunchbox

    13
By Alisa Fleming on October 5, 2020 Food and Grocery, In The News, News, Popular Food Guides

Dairy-free yogurt has seen a boom in recent years, and there are now dozens of brands to choose from (we think these are the best). With so much competition, manufacturers are squeezing into new markets, including dairy-free yogurt tubes and pouches! This round-up includes the options currently available, all of which happen to be vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, and carrageenan-free, too.

Dairy-Free Yogurt Tubes and Pouches for Every Lunchbox - Store-Bought and Homemade (plant-based, gluten-free and soy-free too!)Great photo from our friends at Ruby Rockets. They no longer make yogurt tubes, but still make healthy freezer pops and better-for-you dairy-free creamsicles.

Note: This guide is for informational purposes only. All of the non-dairy products mentioned in this post were dairy-free by ingredients at our time of review. But ingredients and process are subject to change at any time, so always read the packaging. Contact the manufacturer to discuss their production processes if potential allergen cross contamination is a concern for you. All products have some degree of cross-contamination risk, and allergen labels (or lack of) should not be relied on exclusively. Only you can decide what is safe for your needs.

Meet the Dairy-Free Yogurt Tubes & Pouches

Our update includes a little something for everyone. We have classic kid-friendly yogurt tubes made dairy-free, unsweetened yogurt pouches, and fruit-first blends. Plus, they use a variety of bases, including coconut cream, almond milk, and pumpkin seed milk!

    Go-Gurt Dairy Free Yogurt Tubes

Yes, Go-Gurt now makes dairy-free yogurt tubes! But only in one flavor. Nonetheless, parents across America are excited about these dairy look-a-likes. See our Go-Gurt Review page for ingredients and nutrition facts.

    • Flavors: Strawberry
    • Pros: This is real yogurt, cultured with four dairy-free live active probiotic strains. It’s also fortified with calcium and a little bit of vitamins D and B12. Some might also like the rich coconut cream base and the sweet, fruity flavor.
    • Cons: They are quite high in sugars and carbohydrates, and low in protein. Like other Go-Gurts, they are refrigerated, so you have to keep them cool.

Once Upon a Farm Dairy-Free Yogurt Pouches

These healthy pouches were created by moms (including a quite famous one) for kids. They’re adorable, filled with healthy fruit, and are actually made with pumpkin seed milk. See our Once Upon a Farm Yogurt Review page for ingredients and nutrition facts.

    • Flavors: Strawberry, Blueberry, Raspberry
    • Pros: There are no added sugars in these fruit-forward flavors, and they do contain probiotics. They’re also made without any top allergens, and are even coconut-free. And they are certified organic.
    • Cons: They do require refrigeration. However, the probiotic strain used holds up well, even if the yogurt isn’t cold.

    Kite Hill Kids’ Tubes

Kite Hill fans will be happy to hear that their artisan almond milk yogurt now comes in dairy-free yogurt tubes. They are kind of like Go-Gurt copycats, but Kite Hill’s version is lower in sugar, plant-based, and carrageenan-free. And these dairy-free yogurt tubes contain probiotics from four strains of live active cultures. See our Kite Hill Kids’ Yogurt Tubes Review page for ingredients and nutrition facts.

    • Flavors: Strawberry Banana, Mixed Berry
    • Pros: These squeezies are made with pure almond milk and real fruit, and are cultured with four live and active probiotic strains. They’re also relatively low in sugars.
    • Cons: This brand is certified Kosher D.E. for dairy equipment, which could be a concern for some people with milk allergies. It also contains almonds, so it won’t be suitable for schools that have nut-free policies. And it looks like they need to be kept refrigerated or cold.

Coconut Collaborative Coconut Yogurt Alternative Pouch (U.K. only)

These adorable pouches have been known as Coco Nutters, but it looks like they are changing the packaging to Coconut Collaborative. Previously, these pouches were cultured with a few types of dairy-free live and active cultures. Online, they are no longer showing cultures in the ingredients.

    • Flavors: Mango & Passionfruit, Strawberry & Banana
    • Pros: These kid-friendly pouches are made with coconut milk and real fruit purees, not juices, and have no added sugars.
    • Cons: It looks like this is no longer a cultured product.

Nurturme Organic Dairy Free Yogurt Alternative Pouches

These creamy, fruity pouches contain a pure blend of vegetable purees, fruit purees, quinoa milk, coconut cream, and pea protein. They are not only made without added sugars, but also without juice!

    • Flavors: Purple Carrot + Banana + Berry, Sweet Potato + Mango + Guava
    • Pros: These pouches are free of added sugars and top allergens. They are also certified organic and shelf-stable, for a healthy on-the-go option.
    • Cons: These are also void of probiotics.

    Creamy Dairy-Free Smoothie Pouches

These products aren’t cultured, and aren’t marketed as yogurts. But they are great creamy dairy-free pouch options.

    • Stonyfield Organic Dairy-Free Smoothies
    • Welch’s Protein Smoothies (contains soy)

Make Your Own Dairy-Free Yogurt Tubes

Homemade dairy-free yogurt tubes are so easy and fun:

    • First, pick up some zip-top ice pop tubes or reusable pouches.
    • Then, grab your favorite dairy-free yogurt. For convenience, cost savings, and flavor variation, we like to get the larger plain or unsweetened tubs, and blend different fruits into small batches.
    • Now, using a funnel, pour your favorite dairy-free yogurt into the tubes. If the yogurt is thick, you might need to shake the funnel and tube a little to get it all in. If using pouches, they usually have a zipper end you can open.
    • Zip to close the pouches and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week, depending on the yogurt brand and type. The dairy-free yogurt tubes can be frozen, but this might affect both the consistency and the survival of the probiotics.

I haven’t seen all of these yet but love that there are now smaller and lunch friendly dairy free yogurt options. I’m also loving the healthy additives to dairy free yogurt as well since they started out as just being high calorie sugar bombs with not much nutritional value but just a substitue for yogurt.

I couldn’t agree with you more Sarah. I like that we’re transitioning away from the high sugar.

I love how many dairy-free alternatives are on the market! We get coconut collaborative here in Germany but only the pots. I find it a little pricey, but like to splurge once in a while.

Love the round-up! There are so many options these days and I hate regretting buying something when someone already knows it’s not worth the $$$!
