Fresh-baked, homemade-style, sold in adorable packaging … what’s not to love Isabella’s Cookies vegan varieties?
Oh, and yes, they taste amazing, too! They’re generously-sized, but not huge. However, they enormously good qualities from their free-form shape to their tender texture and “just-right” flavor). The vegan Isabella’s Cookies are just about perfect for dairy-free cookie monsters like me.
Tasting Notes for Isabella’s Cookies
Isabella produces a wide range of enticing cookies. Most are not dairy-free, but she has come out with a line that is strictly vegan. As you already know, I REALLY liked them. Nonetheless, I thought you might want a few more details on the flavors of Isabella’s Cookies that we sampled.
The V-Coco
These rustic cookies with a refined taste are perfect for over-the-top chocoholics. My chocolate-fiend friend couldn’t get enough of these double chocolate chocolate chip cookies from Isabella’s cookies. According to her, the more chocolate the better, and I don’t think you could pack any more chocolate in these V-Coco monsters.
I really liked them too. Though I’m not as enthusiastic about chocolate as my friend, the seamless flavor and perfect chocolate chips were a true crowd-pleaser. The only downfall: these were a bit crumbly and threatened to (and did) break easily. Of all of the Isabella’s cookies that we taste-tested, these were the only crumbly ones.
The V-Nutter
Chewy, cake-y, thick, rich, and flavorful. The vegan peanut butter cookie from Isabella’s cookies was the surprise runaway favorite. All votes were cast, and everyone was delighted with this one-of-a-kind gem.
When you first dive into these peanut butter cookies, the flavor starts out mellow, but the richness slowly takes over. They have just the right amount of sweet with a touch of contrasting salt for an amazingly addictive flavor. Unlike the V-Choco cookies, the V-Nutters were very cohesive, yet tender. (This variety appeared to be soy-free, the others have soy lecithin in the chocolate chips)
The V-Chip
Think of your standard yummy chocolate chip cookie … only better. Isabella’s cookies take everything to the next level, and these thick and tender vegan chip cookies are no exception.
The overall flavor of this cookie was slightly unique, but hard to explain, and not “off” in the least bit. In fact, they were quite amazing, and far too easy to devour.
The V-Oat
This cookie was also full of surprises. Even though the package said otherwise, I was mentally prepared for an oatmeal raisin vegan cookie. Instead, my taste buds were delighted with a slew of incredible chocolate morsels. Seriously, Isabella takes her chocolate seriously. I can picture her standing over the dough repeatedly tossing in “just a few more” chocolate chips until each cookie is happily saturated.
The image and description on Isabella’s website led me to believe that this would be a moist and chewy cookie, but it was relatively light (as far as hearty oatmeal cookies go) and slightly dry. Still delicious, but a different texture than I was expecting. That said, the texture and taste married perfectly with the chocolate chips, and these cookies weren’t the least bit crumbly.
