The Best Places to Order Dairy-Free Thanksgiving Dinner

    0
By Alisa Fleming on November 6, 2022 Food and Grocery, In The News, News, Popular Food Guides

Here it is! The very first guide to ordering dairy-free Thanksgiving dinner in the United States. All of the stores and restaurants below cater to dairy-free needs with takeout feasts that serve one or more. There are many vegan and gluten-free options, too. But order soon. Most places have deadlines for the holidays and some do sell out!

Where to Order Dairy-Free Thanksgiving Dinner (with Vegan Options) - includes dozens of national and local options throughout the U.S. Restaurants, shops, and online caterers.

Where to Order Dairy-Free Thanksgiving Dinner (with Vegan Options)

Our list starts with the nationwide options, then the regional places, followed by the local restaurants and shops. The local spots are roughly listed from the West to East Coast. Please comment if you know of other places to order dairy-free Thanksgiving dinner! We will update this list annually and as we learn of more options.

    Whole Foods – Nationwide

This year, they are offering a vegan meal for two, complete with creamed greens, cornbread dressing, and more. They don’t have a pre-set dairy-free feast, but it’s easy to build your own! For mains, they have dairy-free turkeys, ham, lamb, and even crab cakes available. Their sides are loaded with vegan options (even mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole!), plus they have paleo and a few “just dairy free” options, like the mushrooms. And yes, they have vegan pies, too!

How to Search Tips: Their “made without dairy ingredients” filter doesn’t really work (they haven’t tagged anything for it!). But you can start with the vegan and paleo option, then view the allergens on other options of interest. They have the allergens noted under the expanded nutrition facts for each item.

    Sprouts – Nationwide

Their Vegan Roast Meal includes a main from Field Roast in addition to green bean casserole, cornbread stuffing, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce, and sourdough bread. If you’re feeding non-vegans, you can order turkey, hams, and roasts separately. Depending on your location, they might be able to customize a full meal to be dairy-free with the plant-based sides and a meaty entrée.

    Boston Market – Nationwide

You can’t get all the fixins’ at this casual chain, but our Holiday Menu section in our Dairy-Free Boston Market Guide offers mains and a few surprise sauces, sides, and dessert!

    Honey Baked Ham – Nationwide

Their classic Thanksgiving sides mostly contain dairy. But you can order your main from this chain, and also use our dairy-free guide to get breads, salads, and sauces.

    Purple Carrot – Ships Nationwide

It’s not traditional, but they offer a three-course, plant-based, Thanksgiving meal kit for those of you who are craving a modern twist.

Lido Kosher Deli – Ships Nationwide

This New York shop ships their full dairy-free Thanksgiving dinner direct to customers nationwide. They offer options for 2 to 4, 4 to 6, and 6 to 8 guests. It’s available to order via Goldbelly. They don’t bake pies, but you can order vegan pie from other vendors.

Veggie Grill – Various Locations in California, Oregon, Washington, Massachusetts, and New York

Their Thanksgiving Feast for four includes vegan turkey wellington, mashed potatoes, gravy, mac and cheese, green beans, and cranberry sauce. And you can add on a dessert.

Native Foods – Various Locations in California, Colorado, and Chicago

Their all-vegan Thanksgiving feast includes the original wellington, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, and more. But you will need to get your holiday pies elsewhere.

Gelson’s Market – Various Locations in Southern California

You can order their vegan roast dinners, complete with sides, in addition to various meat and seafood mains. But check in store before ordering as ingredient and allergen information isn’t offered online.

Erewhon Market – Various Locations in Southern California

They offer a vegan Thanksgiving Forager meal, complete with pumpkin pie. But “just dairy free” customers can order a turkey feast and individually choose their sides and dessert. Their online ordering includes full ingredient lists for each item.

The Butcher’s Son – Berkeley and Los Angeles, California but also Ships Nationwide

They offer an unusual vegan Thanksgiving feast with “turkey,” “sausage” stuffing, shepherd’s pie, cheesecake, and eggnog. You can order it for pick up at one of their locations or get it shipped to your door.

    M Cafe – Hollywood, California

This macrobiotic restaurant has an impressive Thanksgiving menu. Most of it is vegan, but there are seafood options. And it includes starters like pumpkin pie hummus, plant-based and pescatarian mains, and close to classic sides like porcini mushroom gravy and vegan truffle mac & cheese. You can order the items separately or as a Thanksgiving dinner box.

Follow Your Heart Market & Cafe – Canoga Park, CA

You can pre-order their Thanksgiving dinner or individual Thanksgiving items, or simply dine in on the holiday. They have various vegan mains, desserts, and everything in between. Their holiday menu even includes cashew mac and cheese. If you want to keep it simple, just order their Family-Size Feast for Four.

JOi Cafe – Westlake Village, California

You can order the full Thanksgiving dinner (sold per person) or select your vegan mains and sides individually. They offer their own plant-based versions of feast classics, including pies and other desserts.

Pura Vita – West Hollywood & Redondo Beach, California

Make it an Italian-American Thanksgiving with their vegan holiday menu. It includes ciabatta stuffing, pumpkin cheesecake, and much more.

Savage Goods – El Paso, Texas

It doesn’t include turkey, but you can order their Traditional Thanksgiving Feast without dairy. It includes bacon-wrapped dates and loads of sides. They also have a vegan version of their entire feast.

    Counter Culture – Austin, Texas

The dairy-free Thanksgiving dinner from this local vegan restaurant is also gluten-free. It includes lentil loaf, mashed potatoes, rolls, and much more. It’s ordered per person, and pies or pecan pie cheezecake are ordered separately.

The Herbivorous Butcher – Minneapolis, Minnesota but also Ships Nationwide

They offer  Turkey-Free Thanksgiving Feast that is somewhat prepared, but you do the final legwork yourself. Naturally, everything is vegan. You can peruse their shop in person, or simply order online to your doorstep.

Herbie Butcher’s Fried Chicken – Minneapolis, Minnesota

Their fried chicken location is also offering vegan Thanksgiving feast items on pre-order for the big day.

    Vinai – Minneapolis, Minnesota

For a less traditional feast, get the Thanksgiving Kit from this Hmong restaurant. They let us know that only Galabaos (Hmong Steamed Buns) contain dairy, while the rest is dairy free. It includes Smoked Turkey Leg, Steamed Snapper, Hmong Sausage, Chilled Glass Noodles, Roasted Root Vegetables, Amazing Salad, Fermented Mustard Greens, Purple Sticky Rice, and three Sauces.

    Chowgirls, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Their “everything but the turkey” Thanksgiving menu includes dairy-free and vegan options for every classic side. They also have dessert and vegan “turkey” options. Many items are also gluten-free.

Quality Kosher Catering – Southfield, Michigan

Not only do they have a great classic Thanksgiving menu with a variety of dairy-free choices, they also offer many labeled vegan and gluten-free options, too.

Good for All Gluten Free Food – Stormstown, Pennsylvania

They have a dairy-free Thanksgiving Feast option and an individual vegan Thanksgiving Dinner. But you can also order items separately, including pies and other desserts!

Little Farmhouse Catering – Atlanta, Georgia

Each Thanksgiving main, sauce, and side is ordered separately from this mostly gluten-free, order-only restaurant. They have some vegan options throughout, and more dairy-free choices, but you do need to call to verify the selections before ordering. They don’t have dairy-free labels or ingredients online. And you will probably have to get dessert elsewhere.

    The Buttery – Atlanta, Georgia

Like the Little Farmhouse, this restaurant does Thanksgiving a la carte, and has some dairy-free options throughout (allergens are labeled with each item), but no dessert. Use caution as some simple classics, like their ham, do contain dairy. But they have turkey and a good handful of modern sides to choose from. They also offer a vegan roasted mushroom loaf.

    Cafe Sunflower – Atlanta, Georgia

Order Thanksgiving for one or more at this all vegan cafe. Their take home meal includes the classics with some flavorful additions. They also have a whole range of Thanksgiving cakes and pies.

The Root Cellar – Pittsboro & Chapel Hill, North Carolina

They offer entire Over Roasted Turkey and Brisket Thanksgiving meals that are dairy-free, gluten-free, and nut-free! Are you staying home this year? They also have an option to order your dairy-free Thanksgiving dinner for one.

Organic Krush – Various Locations, Virginia

This local gluten-free chain is fabulous at labeling dairy-free options, and keeps it simple with their ingredients. You can order Thanksgiving from them a la carte, with turkey, various sides, and even dessert on the dairy-free menu. They also have a selection of vegan options.

Fettle + Fare – Westfield, New Jersey

They’re offering a completely dairy-free and gluten-free Thanksgiving menu with pies, stuffing mac and cheese, bone broth gravy, and more. They also have vegan options.

Ben’s Kosher Deli – Various Locations, New York + Boca Raton, Florida

They actually offer dairy-free Thanksgiving meals throughout the year, but you can order Thanksgiving as a feast-to-go for the big day. According to the restaurant, everything they make is dairy free.

Middle Neck Glatt – Great Neck, New York

Turkey, gravy, stuffing, potatoes, soups, pies, quiche, kugel, and more are on the Thanksgiving takeout menu at this dairy-free kosher deli and caterer.

Talia’s Steakhouse – New York, New York

This is a kosher glatt restaurant, which means they serve meat but no dairy. You can order a dairy-free Thanksgiving dinner from them with turkey and full menu of sides.

Jennifer Lee’s Bakery – Boston and Worcester, Massachusetts

This bakeshop is vegan, gluten-free, and free of top allergens. They are offering a holiday menu with a broad selection of both sweets and savories.
