Almond Dream Ice Cream is the Last in a Long Line of Frozen Desserts

    0
By Alisa Fleming on July 3, 2019 Discontinued Products, Product Reviews

We were still spotting it on shelves for quite a while, but it looks like Almond Dream Ice Cream might be officially discontinued. For more brands that are currently available, see our Dairy-Free Ice Cream Reviews.

I was so sad when I learned that Rice Dream Pies had been discontinued (the Bars too). In fact, all of the Rice Dream, Soy Dream, Coconut Dream, and Dream Gelato dairy-free frozen desserts have disappeared from store shelves. But Almond Dream Ice Cream has stood the test of time, and can still be found in a handful of varieties.

Almond Dream Ice Cream Review and Information - classic almond-based non-dairy frozen dessert. We have the ingredients, ratings, and more. Vegan, gluten-free and soy-free.

Almond Dream Ice Cream is the Last in a Long Line of Frozen Desserts

It’s understandable why this dairy-free ice cream has stayed on the market for a decade, thus far. I would say it’s Dream’s most talked about vegan frozen dessert line for good flavors and light but creamy consistencies. And don’t forget to leave your rating and review below if you’ve tried this product! It helps others make an informed dairy-free purchasing decision.

    Almond Dream Bites Note

We have opted not to add the Almond Dream Bites (like ice cream bon bons) to Go Dairy Free because the company says the chocolate coating “contains milk.” It should be “may contain” due to potential cross-contamination, not “contains,” which implies a milk ingredient. But since it does state “contains” we do not feel comfortable adding that product line. Per their statement:

Our chocolate coated frozen products are not made with milk as an ingredient, but they contain milk due to shared manufacturing equipment.

I really like this product. But unfortunately every stores I use to buy it from quit carrying it. Which is sad. I have a lot of food allergies and this is one of the only ones I can eat that taste good. I’m allergic to soy, eggs, oats, coconut, wheat, dairy, corn. I tried one that was made with cashews but the flavor wasn’t very good. Oh and one store only carried your coffee flavored one. I’m not wild about that one. And now they don’t carry that one either. Guess I’ll have to figure out how to make my own.

And yes I did ask them to carry it again. They emailed me that they had other dairy free products. Even after I listed what I was allergic to. How well.

This brand is just wonderful! I like “ice cream sodas – generally with orange soda!! This brand ticks all my boxes: most especially it tastes good!! Also its SOY FREE, and I need dairy free and soy free! But it is so, so, so, so hard to find them – even in a city as large as Chicago.

Dairy-free, delicious, and no tummy upset!

Almond Dream vanilla, chocolate, and cappuccino fudge (I haven’t found the other flavors in my stores) have no tapioca starch or tapioca syrup and no coconut products. It’s the only dairy-free frozen dessert I’ve found that I can eat without issues. There is growing competition for freezer shelf space in the many grocery stores in my area (Jewel, Mariano’s, Sunset Foods, and Whole Foods), only Sunset Foods carries Almond Dream. Guess where I shop?
