Breyers Non-Dairy Ice Cream is Big in Dairy-Free Frozen Dessert

1

I like it when companies don’t mess around. Breyers doesn’t bother with little pints. They only sell their Non-Dairy Ice Cream in generously-sized, 1.5-quart tubs. That’s the equivalent of three pints, but it’s often sold for the same price as one pint of other dairy-free ice cream brands.

And there’s no reason to hunt around for the flavors. Breyers Non-Dairy Ice Cream is sold at mainstream grocers and comes in just two over-the-top varieties.

Breyers Non-Dairy Ice Cream is Big in Dairy-Free Frozen Dessert

Breyer’s Non-Dairy Ice Cream has actually been on the market for a few years, but we kept forgetting to add it to our dairy-free product review listings. Perhaps it was because the brand never really “launched” this product line. They just sort of slipped it onto store shelves and went about their business. They never even share it on social media. But now that it’s up, please do add your rating and review below if you’ve tried it!

Lactose-Free Flavors are Not Dairy-Free

We get a lot of comments from readers stating that Breyers has dairy-free Chocolate and Vanilla flavors, too. Please note that the Chocolate and Vanilla are Lactose-Free, the are NOT Dairy-Free. They are still made with milk, cream, and whey (and contain casein), but have lactase enzyme added to “digest” the lactose (milk sugar) in the dairy. Those flavors may be suitable for people with lactose intolerance who do not avoid dairy for any other reasons. But they are not suitable for anyone who needs to be dairy-free.

It was okay

It was okay however you can really taste the substitution of whatever was used instead of milk. Ben & Jerrys, on the other hand, you can’t taste the substitution instead it taste like actual icecream and it didn’t upset my stomach. Please change the recipe to taste more like dairy icecream.

The Closest Thing to Real Ice-Cream

Breyers Non-Dairy Cookies and Cream is the closest thing I have tasted to real ice cream. I’ve tried Halo Top, Ben&Jerry’s, Häagen-Dazs, and Parvelicious, but all have had either powdery textures or that nutty aftertaste that just reminds you that it isn’t ice cream. This has neither of those issues, and is also perfect for milkshakes with just a touch of almond milk.

This is our 15 year daughter’s favorite ice cream. She is allergic to dairy and always has a carton in the freezer. So thankful for this product. Very reasonable too!

Love the size!

Love the size of the container and the price! Flavor was good. However it’s not as creamy as some other dairy free ice creams out there. When I was a kid there was a product called “Ice Milk” as it was not made with cream just milk. Breyers df reminds me very much of that product.

Found it at Grocery Outlet for $1 each!
4 stars only for normal retail price. Too high. But 5 stars for taste and creamy texture

Both df ice creams do not disappoint. That’s all I buy now. I do wish they would make a plain vanilla one so we can customize to everyone’s likes and dislikes.
